We are seeking a highly skilled and agile AI Engineer to design, develop, and deploy fast-turnaround AI prototypes. In this role, you will work closely with our product and engineering teams to explore innovative AI solutions that can be tested and validated rapidly. You’ll play a critical role in translating conceptual ideas into tangible MVPs using machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Rapidly build and iterate on AI prototypes using tools such as AI Agents, LLM API calls, Pydantic AI, Langchain, RAGs, and other
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define AI use cases and data requirements.
• Build interactive demos or APIs to showcase the prototypes to internal or external stakeholders.
• Stay current with AI/ML advancements and evaluate new tools and libraries that can accelerate development.
• Optimize app performance and scalability for proof-of-concept demos.

• Strong experience with the React and Remix full-stack frameworks.
• Solid understanding of Node.js and its ecosystem.
• Proven experience with modern build tools (Vite) and package managers (pnpm).
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent problem-solving skills in a full-stack, real-time development context.
• Solid grasp of full-stack web application development principles.
• Understanding of AI agent interaction and prompt engineering.
• Experience with automated code quality and testing tools (ESLint, Prettier, Vitest or similar).

What will you be doing as an AI Engineer at Elixirr Digital?

Design and Implement Solutions: Architect, design, and develop advanced AI systems with a focus on LLMs and agentic solutions that transform enterprise workflows.

• Lead and Collaborate : Lead teams, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional experts to deliver AI-driven innovations.

At Capitec, the Software Engineer (AI) plays a pivotal role in our cross-functional team, dedicated to the full software development lifecycle of our GenAI-based products. This includes research, development, deployment, and ongoing operation of each product. As a Software Engineer (AI), you will be responsible for researching, designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing complex AI-driven software systems and applications. Your focus will be on scalability, performance, and future requirements.

You will work closely with our team of designers and developers to deliver robust GenAI solutions. This role also involves guiding and supporting developers and stakeholders in scoping, progress, status, and resolution of engineering problems. Your expertise in utilizing generative models, natural language processing, and AI-driven workflows will be crucial in creating intelligent systems that can generate content, automate creative tasks, and enhance user experiences in innovative ways.

• 5+ years of work experience in ML/AI or related domains
• 3+ years of experience with AI/Machine Learning techniques, model development, and deployment
• Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and AI development tools
• Experience with information retrieval systems and search
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++, and other relevant programming languages
• Strong expertise in Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with microservice architecture and building microservices
• Experience with messaging platforms and systems
• RESTful API design and development principles
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven track record of working effectively within a team
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, dedicated to delivering high-quality solutions
• Proficiency in English is required

• Act as the primary data science representative for iOCO on client projects, building strong, trust-based relationships.
• Lead conversations with internal and external stakeholders to shape, influence, and guide AI and data-driven initiatives.
• Translate business problems into data science solutions, working closely with client teams to deliver measurable value.

AI Adoption Innovation

• Contribute to iOCO†AI adoption journey, driving awareness and implementing AI solutions within client and internal environments.
• Support the development and delivery of AI-enabled projects, from ideation through deployment and optimization.

Data Analysis Insights

• Analyze large and complex datasets to extract trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
• Deliver impactful recommendations that improve decision-making and drive business outcomes.

Model Development

• Build, validate, and deploy machine learning and statistical models across a variety of use cases.
• Apply best practices in experimentation, model selection, and performance evaluation.

Data Preparation Management

• Prepare high-quality datasets through data cleaning, transformation, and pipeline development.
• Support scalable data infrastructure and ensure reliability across solutions.

Visualisation Reporting

• Create compelling visualisations and dashboards using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
• Clearly communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Documentation Best Practices

• Document methodologies, workflows, and code for transparency and knowledge sharing.
• Promote data science standards and contribute to internal frameworks and guidelines.

What we†looking for:

Experience

• 3 - 4 years in a data science or analytics role, preferably in a consulting or client-facing environment.
• Proven experience deploying machine learning models in production settings.
• Experience working on AI projects and delivering tangible business value.

Technical Skills

• Strong skills in Python or R, with experience in ML libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Proficient in SQL and data manipulation.
• Skilled in building dashboards and visualisations using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) knowledge is essential

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills †ble to confidently represent iOCO in meetings and presentations.
