Job Description:

  1. Preparation and compilation of SARS Tax Clearance documents
  2. Assistance with verifying Tax Compliance of clients
  3. Relationship management with external Tax Practitioner on SARS Tax Clearance submissions
  4. Working within a tax and exchange control team to efficiently deal directly with client queries
  5. Keeping the system (CRM) up to date with client progress and approvals
  6. Relationship management with affiliates
  7. Preparation and compilation of Emigration documents
  8. Liaising with the various teams at our banking partners to ensure SARS TCC's and emigration processes are in place for clients to trade

Education, experience and skills:

  1. A Bachelor's Degree (at minimum)
  2. Work experience of at least 1 year within Fiduciary Services / banking / Exchange Control department
  3. Extremely comfortable with being client facing
  4. Proficiency in Word, Excel, e-filing and Salesforce (advantageous)
  5. General office administration
  6. FAIS RE5 (within the first 3 months, if not already obtained)
  7. SAIT registration

Remuneration: Salary package offers a basic salary and will join the company incentive structure. The package includes a standard Medical Aid contribution and Death and Disability covered by the company.

Job Purpose

To provide tax advice and tax compliance services to a wide range of clients who operate in all sectors. To continually assist and ensure that the Clients receive excellent tax compliance service and thus build and maintain relationships that support the PKF Octagon culture and values. Quality, accuracy and Client service is of paramount importance and is a specific requirement of this position.

Main Responsibilities And Accountabilities

The successful applicant will be required to handle (but is not limited to) the following:

  • Prepare Objections for submission to SARS and submit to SARS as required by the Client and Partners. To liaise directly with the relevant Partner before the submission is made to SARS.
  • Attend to Objections from start to finish ensuring quality of service and accuracy of output and acting in the best interests of the Client.
  • Ensure ongoing follow up and tracking with SARS on all tax related matters, including the objections and submission, on behalf of the Client.
  • Take the IT registrations, Tax Clearance, Tax Applications and Objections to SARS and ensure they are properly received.
  • To accurately process and log all information on GreatSoft.
  • Perform the role of a Client liaison on all tax related matters, ensuring the Client relationship is maintained and excellent services provided.
  • Provide continuous and accurate feedback to the relevant Client and Partners.
  • Attend to the accurate completion of all tax returns.
  • Provide feedback to Partners on the progress of tax returns that you are working on for them.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Must have at least 5 years of experience in a Tax Compliance role at an Audit and Accounting firm.
  • Matric and completed a relevant tax related degree or diploma
  • Must know the latest industry and tax rules and legislation.
  • Must be computer literate, must know specifically GreatSoft and SARS e-filing.

Purpose Of The Job

The Corporate Tax Manager is responsible for delivering comprehensive corporate tax consulting and advisory services in the areas inter alia mergers and acquisitions, due diligences, private equity, dispute resolution and tax controversy as well as other tax advisory services. Additionally, the corporate tax manager will be responsible for assistance with the execution of go to market activities in line with the strategic objectives of the firm, as well as the end-to-end management of engagements with clients across sectors /industries. .

Additionally, the corporate tax manager will be responsible for assistance with the execution of go to market activities in line with the strategic objectives of the firm, as well as the end-to-end management of engagements with clients across sectors /industries.Key Job Duties Or ResponsibilitiesAddress complex tax related problems and inquiries Maintain confidential relations with clients Effectively manage relationships with the relevant local authorities Interpret and apply local income tax and tax administration laws (including keeping up to date with changes to legislation as well as new developments in regulations and case law) Provide and articulate complex recommendations regarding tax solutions Manage, lead and develop junior team members and professional staff Demonstrate strong project management skills, and initial review skills Manage the administration of tax engagement related matters Manage the maintenance of essential tax records, reports and files Prepare clear and accurate reports containing findings, conclusions and recommendations Achieve budgetary targets through effective work management Adapt to an evolving work environment and accommodate changing client demands Support the development of opportunities and collaboration across functions/units; and display relationship management abilities Oversee projects from initiation to completion (including risk and billings), and be able to work directly with the Partner or Associate Director in delivering a quality product on time Be able to identify risks and opportunities within existing client base and to secure new work. We are currently looking for a Corporate Tax Assistant Manager within our Corporate Tax Business unit in Johannesburg

Purpose Of The Job

The Corporate Tax Manager is responsible for delivering comprehensive corporate tax consulting and advisory services in the areas inter alia mergers and acquisitions, due diligences, private equity, dispute resolution and tax controversy as well as other tax advisory services. Additionally, the corporate tax manager will be responsible for assistance with the execution of go to market activities in line with the strategic objectives of the firm, as well as the end-to-end management of engagements with clients across sectors /industries. .

Key Job Duties Or Responsibilities

  • Address complex tax related problems and inquiries
  • Maintain confidential relations with clients
  • Effectively manage relationships with the relevant local authorities
  • Interpret and apply local income tax and tax administration laws (including keeping up to date with changes to legislation as well as new developments in regulations and case law)
  • Provide and articulate complex recommendations regarding tax solutions
  • Manage, lead and develop junior team members and professional staff
  • Demonstrate strong project management skills, and initial review skills
  • Manage the administration of tax engagement related matters
  • Manage the maintenance of essential tax records, reports and files
  • Prepare clear and accurate reports containing findings, conclusions and recommendations
  • Achieve budgetary targets through effective work management
  • Adapt to an evolving work environment and accommodate changing client demands

  • Oversee projects from initiation to completion (including risk and billings), and be able to work directly with the Partner or Associate Director in delivering a quality product on time
