Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field .
- Post-graduate qualification (MBA or MSc in Taxation/Finance) is preferred.
- Certifications & Licenses (highly preferred in Kenya):
- CPA-K or ACCA certification (mandatory).
- Membership with ICPAK .
- ADIT (Advanced Diploma in International Taxation), CFA, or CIMA are advantageous.
Job Experience & Skills Required:
- Minimum 10 years of progressive tax experience , with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role .
- Advanced Microsoft Excel.
- ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, and Sage).
- Strong understanding of internal controls and financial audits .
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Proven track record of within multinational corporations, Big 4 firms, or large corporates.
- Experience working within multiple industries is an advantage.

BDO has a vacancy for an Associate Director: Corporate Tax Compliance. Reporting to the Head of Corporate Tax Compliance you will inter alia be responsible for:
- Assisting BDO to achieve its financial targets driving the BDO people, brand, business development, technical tax competence and client service in line with BDO values.
- Reviewing technical documents by utilizing a sound knowledge of basic income tax and corporate law.
- Reviewing income tax returns (ITR14 / IT12EI) and supporting tax schedules.
- Reviewing provisional tax calculations.
- Reviewing objection and appeals and responses to SARS queries.
- Reviewing withholding tax returns.
- Assisting with the research and preparation of proposals.
- Adapting to a changing work environment and accommodate changing client demands.
- Liaising with audit partners and audit staff with regards to tax issues.
- Liaising with SARS.
- Visiting clients to discuss tax issues and assist clients with SARS audit and queries.
- Managing monthly invoices and outstanding debtors.
- Producing accurate work to a high technical standard while coaching and mentoring junior staff.
- Quality control of all deliverables and ensuring compliance with the BDO risk policies and procedures.
- Financial disciple and ensuring assignments are delivered on time and within budget.
- Managing of staff and deadlines.
Qualifications :
- Minimum B.Com with post graduate specialism (M.Com, LLM (Tax Law) or Hdip (Tax)).
Experience :
- Minimum of 15 years’ corporate tax experience. li >5 years’ managerial experience.
Competencies :
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Build strong and effective relationships with internal and external clients ensuring a professional and quality service that meets required expectations and needs.
