Job Description- Manage the property's internet presence on all social media platforms as per the guidelines from Radisson Blu Hotel Group, ensuring that responses are handled professionally and within corporate guidelines.
- Market products by developing and implementing marketing and advertising campaigns.
- Maintaining and growing social media databases.
- Preparing marketing reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing sales data.
- Preparing a strategic social media marketing plan for all hotel outlets.
- Actively oversee and implement the property’s marketing plan.
- Assist in the marketing budget and planning process and perform tasks within budget.
- Conduct continuous market research in respect of the target markets of the property.
- Produce monthly social media and marketing report as required
- Research competitive products by identifying and evaluating product characteristics, market share, pricing and advertising.
- Coordinate above and below the line advertising campaigns, materials, schedules and content in respect of the specialised market segments served by the hotel.
- Develop and coordinate the production of appropriate marketing collateral.
- Conduct monthly stock audits of marketing collateral
- Coordinate direct mail campaigns including preparation of promotional material.
- Create and maintain accurate client databases for marketing distribution.
- Act as Brand Custodian and ensure that all marketing and advertising is done within parameters of branding standards and Corporate Identity Manuals and within brand standards.
- Identify new forms of promotions with the correct price points in order to maximize on total revenue opportunities.
- Design and write response letters to special markets, research survey specialists and mailing lists.
- Proven success in executing marketing strategies, adept in marketing principles.
- Demonstrated expertise in digital marketing, social media management, and content creation.

Wow, August has come and almost gone which left me thinking and reflecting on the current status of social media marketing. I came across a wonderful survey that was conducted in the USA, Canada, UK, India and Australia, which provides some interesting insights on the current status of Social Media Marketing. Although these are not South African insights, a lot of the data can give us an indication of current and future social media trends.
The report covers all of the major social platforms, organic and paid activities, video marketing, and much more.
Survey Overview & DemographicsThis survey was conducted in January 2023 by emailing more than 400,000 marketers and asking them to participate. After 9 days, the survey was closed with 2,133 participants.
Here are the demographic breakdowns –
- 53% of marketers surveyed have 5 or more years of social media marketing experience.
- Approximately two out of five (43%) marketers said social media marketing was their full-time responsibility.
- The largest group that took the survey works for small businesses of 2-10 employees (36%), followed by the self-employed (25%).
- About two-thirds (63%) of survey participants focus primarily on attracting consumers (B2C) and the other 37% primarily target businesses (B2B).
- Most participants worked in Marketing, PR or advertising.
- Most survey participants (86%) were age 30 or older.
- Females edged out males, representing 59% of all participants.
- Most participants were based in the United States (55%), followed by Canada (5%), the United Kingdom (5%), India (4%), and Australia (3%).
- Facebook continues declining – Marketers have been diversifying away from Facebook steadily since 2018. When asked to select their single most important platform, only 45% selected Facebook, down from 67% in 2018. 14%of marketers indicated they will be decreasing their organic marketing on Facebook and only 37% of marketers plan on increasing their organic activities on the platform.
- YouTube interest is high – While only 54% of marketers use YouTube, a significant 59% plan on increasing their use of YouTube video—the largest percentage of any platform. Plus, 68% want to learn more about organic video marketing on YouTube.
- Instagram remains hot 80% of marketers are using Instagram. It’s the second most important social platform for marketing (behind Facebook). A significant 56% of marketers plan on increasing their Instagram organic activities over the next 12 months. Instagram is tied with YouTube as the top platform marketers want to learn more about.
- TikTok is growing – TikTok adoption among marketers rose from 18% in 2022 to 22% in 2023. 38% plan to increase their activity on the platform and a significant 48% are interested in learning more about TikTok.
- Facebook dominance is still strong – A very significant 89% of marketers use Facebook (followed by Instagram at 80%). 45% of marketers claim Facebook is their most important social platform. Facebook ads are used by 67% of marketers and 45% find the Facebook platform the most important for ads. Facebook also drives the most traffic and contributes the most to sales.
