Duties & Responsibilities
Environment:
A leading school supplies provider, having recently enhanced their go-to-market strategy, is expanding their Telesales team to strengthen customer relationships and increase trading profit across their mid-tier customer segment. The Telesales Consultant will manage a dedicated portfolio of clients, ensuring consistent monthly engagement while driving growth through increased product category adoption and support of supplier-led campaigns. This role is ideal for a proactive, target-driven individual with excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to delivering outstanding customer service over the phone.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a fixed customer portfolio, ensuring each client is contacted at least once per month as part of a structured call cycle.
- Follow the regional sales plan and call objectives, ensuring alignment with campaign goals and category-specific focus areas.
- Grow basket value through cross-selling and activation of additional product categories within existing accounts.
- Proactively participate in supplier activations, introducing clients to new products, seasonal promotions, and campaigns.
- Complete outbound calls daily to meet activity and performance targets, contributing to individual and team KPIs.
- Process customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring stock availability or offering alternatives when necessary.
- Handle customer queries professionally, resolve complaints, and manage backorder communications transparently.
- Follow up on quotes to close sales and increase conversion rates.
- Maintain accurate client records, including call outcomes, preferences, and pricing agreements.
- Reactivate dormant or underperforming accounts within the portfolio.
- Assist with credit note requests and ensure compliance with internal procedures.
Requirements:
Knowledge and Systems:
- Familiarity with pricing structures, including contract pricing, buyouts, and mark-up calculations.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably AXAPTA.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and CRM tools for tracking and planning.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-3 years of telesales or internal sales experience with a proven track record of achieving sales targets.
- Experience managing a customer portfolio is highly beneficial.
- Matric (Grade 12) is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:- Implementing all standard operating procedures adopted by the company in sequence.
- Provide accurate customer services through quality checks and follow-up calls.

- Generation of sales through either direct face-to-face, electronically, or telephone contact and responding to customer inquiries promptly.
- Keep all regular and routine customers updated regarding changes in products and services of the organization.

- Meet and exceed sales targets and objectives assigned by the Branch Manager.

- Self-improvement in learning new product offerings and brushing up on product knowledge daily.
- Ensure cutlists are signed by customers. If approvals are over WhatsApp or email, these need to be printed and attached to the order.
- Identify full potential of sales opportunities and upsell higher value products where appropriate.
- Promotion of slow-moving and dead stock items as highlighted by the branch manager.
- Update quotation tracker and update until the order is confirmed and paid for.
- Find a minimum of 2 new customers per month and consistently look for new business opportunities.
- Maintain and label showrooms correctly.
- Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of sales counters and workspace.
- Actively promote monthly broad sheet items and drive sales towards them.
- Respond to all customer queries received via email or telephone messages within two hours.
- All offcut sizes to be added in Cutrite as a size/component.
- Default PBC reply templates must be used when replying to emails or online queries.
- All online query quotations must be sent out before COB on the same day received.
- All in-store customers to be assisted before leaving for lunch or going home in the evening.
- Computer literate in Google apps and MS Office (Excel, Word).
- Able to deliver excellent customer service, externally and internally.
- Must have a good understanding of product knowledge and ability to upsell and cross-sell.
- One year of general sales experience.
- Ability to work individually and in a team.
- Own transport.
- Must be energetic and confident.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule and occasional overtime.
- Grade 12 Qualification or equivalent.
- Sales certificate/diploma will be advantageous.
- Minimum 12 months experience in sales.
