Armed Security Officer Responsibilities :

1. Protecting stipulated people and locations from harassment, physical attack, vandalism, and other forms of abusive or unauthorized treatment.
2. Ensuring that your weapon is well maintained and secure at all times.
3. Utilizing your weapon in times of extreme attack, when non-violent options have been exhausted.
4. Attending refresher training in weapons use, if applicable.

6. Recording the details of each person who visits the facility, if applicable.
7. Ensuring that security equipment and measures are suitable and that they remain in excellent working condition at all times.

Purpose:

To lead and manage the information security framework across our systems, networks, and digital platforms. This role is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of security policies, procedures, and controls.

Essential Functions :

• Develop, implement, and maintain IT security policies, standards, and procedures;
• Monitor and respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities across systems and infrastructure;
• Conduct risk assessments, audits, and vulnerability scans to identify and mitigate risks;
• Oversee firewall, antivirus, endpoint protection, and intrusion detection/prevention systems;
• Lead security awareness training programs for staff and stakeholders;
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., POPIA, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, GDPR);

Requirements: Experience, Education and Other:

• Grade 12 (matric certificate required);
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology / Computer Science / Cybersecurity and / or related field;
• Professional certifications preferred (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+);
• 3–5+ years in an IT security or cybersecurity role;
• Experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, MFA, DLP, and endpoint protection;
• Working knowledge of cloud security (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP);
• Experience with regulatory frameworks (e.g., POPIA, ISO 27001);
• Previous experience in a betting company (an advantage).

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities including the following but not limited to:

1. Property Protection: Ensure the security and safety of the Companies premises, including the building, equipment, vehicles, and assets.
2. Access Control: Monitor and control access to and from the company’s facility, ensuring only authorized personnel and visitors are allowed entry.
3. Surveillance: Conduct regular patrols and surveillance of the premises to detect and deter unauthorized activities, vandalism, or theft.
4. Emergency Response: Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, or alarms, taking appropriate action to mitigate risks and protect individuals and property.
5. Customer and Employee Safety: Maintain a safe and secure environment for customers, employees, and visitors by enforcing safety protocols and procedures.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Must have the following:

1. Clear criminal record.
2. Must have a PSIRA (Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority) valid certificate for Grade C or above.
3. Must have Firearm Competency (Handgun and Shotgun).
4. Must have experience in Access Control, Patrolling and Static Guarding.
5. Speak and write professional English.
6. Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience.

• 5-7 years in an information security or audit role within banking or financial services. Experience with multi-vendor, outsourced, and multi-system IT environments.
