Job Description

Medication Safety Management:
? Implement best operating practice related to medication safety with the
objective of reducing medication incidents.
? Drive a system of incident reporting, identify negative trends and
implement corrective action.
? Drive antimicrobial stewardship programs in the hospital.
? Drive the implementation and compliance to company policies and
processes.
? Ensure compliance with South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC),
Department of Health (DOH) and other statutory and legal
requirements.

Relationship Management:
? Build mutually beneficial relationships with both internal and external
customers as it relates to the delivery of an effective and quality
pharmaceutical service within the hospital and the retail pharmacy.
? Engage with Doctors and Patients with regards to medication and other
matters.
? Ensure client expectations are met, and quality client service provided.
? Maintain professional ethics and ensure these are demonstrated
personally and by team members.

Financial Management:
? Achieve hospital budgeted financial measures as it relates to the
Pharmacy.
? Manage the cost of sales of pharmaceuticals in line with revenue and
budget.
? Communicate and implement cost saving opportunities.
? Conduct financial analysis monthly, identify negative trends and
implement corrective action.
? Ensure that expenses are authorized and allocated and controlled
accordingly.
? Scrutinize stock reports regularly to identify errors and implement
corrective measures so as to ensure proper inventory management is
continuously improved and risks identified and mitigated.
? Implement effective stock management processes:
o Stock is ordered, received and issued according to Company
requirements and stock management principles;
o Preferred supplier agreements are adhered to;
o Stock takes are coordinated according Company requirements; and
o Stock variances are reported and addressed in order to minimize
risks.

People Management:
? Demonstrate visible leadership in respect of Group values, strategy and
operating model.
? Sponsor company initiatives and projects as it relates to the hospital.
? Participate in hospital management committee meetings and forums.
? Lead and manage the Pharmacy team meetings and ensure
participation from all parties.
? Recruit, retain, motivate and develop Pharmacy staff.
? Provide direction and inspire positive work behavior in team.
? Review compliance to company standards and statutory and legal
requirements, and manage performance (outputs) of staff within area of
responsibility and take remedial action.

Job Description

To ensure the efficient operation of the dispensary and the clinic and to ensure service excellence by leading and directing the pharmacy team to deliver high standards of Pharmaceutical care in order to meet sales and compliance targets, leading to a competitive advantage for the brand.

Job Objectives:

  1. To ensure and to provide high standards of pharmaceutical care, accurate and safe dispensing, including generic substitution, and the provision of advice in accordance with Clicks’ way of working, good pharmacy practice and within the legal scope of practice as outlined by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
  2. To efficiently manage and control all operational activities of the dispensary, including safe and responsible stock management, shrinkage, general housekeeping and administration in line with merchandising, SAPC regulations and company standards.
  3. To ensure the operational viability of the dispensary through sound financial management, focus on core dispensary and clinic targets, management of expenses and proactively taking appropriate action as required.
  4. To ensure competent and motivated employees, including learners and interns, through effective selection, leadership, management and on-going development in order to build capacity and capability to meet current and future business needs.
  5. To adequately schedule staff in line with the labour policy and the relevant labour model in order to ensure each department is fully and appropriately staffed, including ensuring weekly time and attendance and employee records are complete and submitted to HR.
  6. To manage customer service initiatives in the dispensary that results in a great customer experience, drives customer loyalty and achieves club card participation targets.
  7. To ensure integration and partnership with the clinic and healthcare aisle resulting in a full offering to customers regarding their healthcare needs.
  8. To support the Group’s vision to be the customer’s first choice health and beauty retailer by living and driving the company values.
  9. To drive cohesion, consistency and integration between the store operation, pharmacy and clinic teams.
  10. To drive a high performing business culture that delivers employee affiliation, customer satisfaction and shareholder value.

Knowledge:

  1. SAPC and relevant legal knowledge
  2. Ethical working practice and compliance
  3. Knowledge of stock, cost, risk and compliance management procedures
  4. Knowledge of patient care, professional counselling
  5. Knowledge of customer service excellence
  6. Knowledge of labour legislation and IR practices
  7. Sound understanding and application of financial management principles
  8. Knowledge of competency based interviewing
