IntroductionWe are seeking a dedicated Assistant Mechanic to join our team.
Responsibilities- Help mechanics and technicians with vehicle repairs and maintenance tasks, including gathering tools, holding parts, and assisting with disassembly and reassembly.
- Maintain and organize tools, equipment, and spare parts. Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working condition and report any malfunctions.
- Keep the workshop clean and organized. Perform routine cleaning of work areas, tools, and equipment. Dispose of waste and used parts in accordance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Assist in the ordering, receiving, and inventory management of parts and materials. Ensure parts are correctly stored and easily accessible.
- Help with the preparation and maintenance of records related to work performed, parts used, and other workshop activities.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Report any hazards or safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Provide general support to workshop staff as needed, including running errands, assisting with administrative tasks, and other duties as assigned.
- Must have Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Technical or vocational training in automotive or mechanical work (advantageous).
- Previous experience in a workshop or similar environment (preferred).
- Valid C1 driver's license with PDP.
- Basic mechanical knowledge, familiarity with workshop tools and equipment, and strong organizational skills.
- Good verbal communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Physically fit to work in various weather conditions and loud machinery environments.
- Ability to stand, kneel, and bend for long periods, using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Willingness to work flexible hours or assist with emergency repairs as needed.

POSITION PURPOSE: The main purpose of this position is to fill the complete maintenance function of the entire facility, this will include but not limited to the monitoring and reporting of the refrigeration systems, maintenance of the sub-ambient facilities, management and control of assets, building upkeep to ensure a safe and compliant operational functionality of the site while remaining within budget.

Invest in personal development Assurance of Safety and compliance of regulation stipulations Desired Experience & Qualification Qualifications Minimum : N4 - Matric (NQF), N3 or N4 in a technical field Preferred: N5 N6 (Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration) Millwright trade test 10 years working experience Knowledge on refrigeration; Cold store or warehouse TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES Operational infrastructure maintenance: Knowledge of mobile racking and stacking - Mobile Racking, Loading Docks and temperature seal doors and walling.
Extensive knowledge and experience with (MHE) Material handling equipment (battery operated) Extensive knowledge of Ammonia refrigeration system Extensive electrical three phase and single-phase knowledge General Building Maintenance: Plumbing, Painting, and Plastering.
