- Responsible for the day-to-day Supervision, Coordination and Operation of the Logistics, client interaction and related queries/enquiries.
- Execute submission sheets review against quotes, to ensure instructions are clear and according to quote submitted.
- Responsible for achieving a high degree of project execution and client satisfaction
- Interact with section managers, by making timely technical decisions with regards to client complaints or queries.
- Responsible for maintaining and applying the disciplinary code of the company
- Responsible for building a motivated team, focused on client service, quality and satisfaction.
- Maintain a clean working environment
- Complies and conforms to the laboratory quality management system (ISO17025 and SANAS)
- Client Liaison and Logistics Coordinator: Logistics Overtime submission sheets must be properly checked (Name, employee number, correct hours claimed) before handing in to HOD for approval.
- Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.
- Operate to the highest standards of ethics, in accordance with the SGS Statement of Integrity
- Maintains an appropriate document trail (Quote, Submission sheet, Proof of payment, registration of client account, and all other documents related to a client request and sample submission.
- Requesting of sample repeats to individual sections.
- Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or enter hazardous environments without the necessary knowledge and protection and report the situation to higher authority to take action.
- Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and report the situation to higher authority to take action.
- Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified.
- Assist with production coordination with specific collaboration with other section on sample movement
- Assist with the training and verification of Sample Logistics Staff
- Check on daily staff attendance and address any problem timeously and pro-actively.
- Ensure that required consumables and inventory stock levels/PPE for Fire Assay are monitored and maintained for daily, night & weekend shifts.
- Ensure the maintenance of the laboratory instruments and apparatus is performed and maintain equipment records, logbooks, files and registers accordingly.
- Any person has the right to refuse to perform work that may damage the environment in an imminent and serious way and to report such a situation.
- Matric
- Diploma in Logistics (Advantage)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the administrative aspects of Geochemical Laboratory Services
- Good understanding of ISO IEC/17025
- Excellent communication skills with good written and speaking ability of English
- Client Services background would be an added advantage
- Supervisory experience
- Strong experience with SLIMS
- Solid Communication Skills
- Good Analytical Skills (Advantage)
- Ability to work well under pressure and tight timelines
- Ability to prioritize activities and be flexible to adjust to a variety of situations
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office

Job DescriptionPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
All operations within the Logistics Department relating to Sample Receiving, storage, logging and Tracking at Randfontein Laboratory.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive, sort, weigh and label as per Sorting, receiving competence modules.
- Track samples/jobs as per Sample Tracking working instruction.
- Assist with storage duties as per Storage, return or discard working instruction.
- Communicate with Logistics Supervisor regarding the daily operations in the Login department;
- Report immediately any discrepancies, broken or thorn parcels found during sorting to the Logistics Supervisor. Ensure all jobs/samples are profiled in SLIM accurately and in a timely manner after sample sorting.
- Ensure all paperwork is scanned daily accurately.
- Report immediately any equipment that is not functioning correctly to the Logistics Supervisor
- Ensure that housekeeping, health and safety and quality policies and procedures are followed and adhered to.
- Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.
- Document all samples received in register
