About the role:
The Financial Administrator will support the finance team by performing daily accounting and administrative tasks, ensuring accurate processing of invoices and financial transactions, maintaining financial records, and assisting with reporting and audits. Seeking a detail-oriented, strategic, and hands-on Finance Manager to oversee all financial aspects of the business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial planning, cash flow management, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, debtors collection, creditors payments and supporting executive decision-making with sound financial insights.
Responsibilities:
- Spearhead all financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and providing crucial insights to guide our strategic decisions.
- Drive financial planning, analysis, and forecasting to optimise their profitability and support sustainable growth.
- Oversee cash flow management, mitigate financial risks, and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, providing financial expertise to inform key business decisions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Lead and mentor their finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Conduct financial analysis to support business performance and strategy
- Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
- Develop and manage internal financial controls and procedures
- Monitor and manage company cash flow and working capital
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations (invoices, credits, payroll, reconciliations, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with SARS, VAT, PAYE, UIF, and company tax requirements
- Manage annual audits and liaise with external accountants/auditors
- Maintain and ensure accuracy of financial records
- Provide financial modelling for new business opportunities
- Support pricing strategy, gross margin analysis, and cost optimisation
- Evaluate and advise on capex, supplier contracts, and credit terms
- Identify risks and implement mitigating financial strategies
- Oversee finance staff or external bookkeeping support
- Ensure accurate integration of financial systems (Xero, inventory platforms, marketplaces)
- Recommend and implement finance process improvements and tools
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field - CA preferred.
- Proven experience as a Finance Manager, ideally within the import/export sector.
- Solid understanding of international trade regulations, customs, and tariffs.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership capabilities.
- A proactive approach, with a passion for driving financial performance in a growth-oriented environment.
- 5+ years' experience in a finance role, with at least 2 in a management capacity
- Strong proficiency in Xero (or similar accounting software), Excel/Google Sheets.
- Inventory Management Software (such as Unleashed or Cin7) an advantage.
- Knowledge of inventory management controls, and import operations is an advantage.
- Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
