  • Assist Foreman, Artisans, semi skilled Artisan's, Storeman or other Engineering staff to perform their general daily duties.
  • Cleaning of workshop, stores and machines.
  • Perform any prescribed task required within the department.
  • Drive a hyster to assist with any maintenance function if duly qualified.
  • BBS and 20 keys participation.

The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12/Standard 10.
  • Relevant experience in a feed milling environment will be to your advantage.
  • 3 years experience as an Engineering Assistant or similar maintenance role.

Key Performance Areas :

Core Purpose of the Job

Responsible for leading and scaling cross-functional engineering teams to architect, build, and optimize high-performing, secure, and scalable software solutions across mobile, backend, and cloud-native platforms. This role drives engineering excellence and operational efficiency in a complex enterprise environment characterized by partner-led integrations, multi-channel systems, and deep ERP dependencies.

As a senior leader, the role blends hands-on technical oversight with strategic direction, ensuring that software delivery aligns with business goals, regulatory requirements, and modern engineering practices.

The Senior Manager is expected to lead platform modernization efforts, foster DevOps culture, and promote agile execution models across all teams while maintaining a strong emphasis on system performance, security, and reliability.

The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, people leadership skills, and the ability to work across silos, enabling cross-functional collaboration between engineering, product, infrastructure, security, and business units.

Beyond execution, you will play a key role in mentoring, influencing strategic platform decisions, and acting as a central point of coordination between architecture, development, infrastructure, security, business and external partner teams. Your contributions will accelerate time-to-market while strengthening operational maturity and platform reliability across Group and OPCO-level initiatives.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Technical Leadership & Software Engineering Expertise

  • Deep technical experience in mobile apps and backend applications, including hands-on debugging and optimization
  • Extensive experience with cloud-native application design and modernization, preferably on Microsoft Azure
  • Strong understanding of microservices, API design, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native patterns
  • Solid background in microservices architecture, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and API-driven systems
  • Proven experience leading teams through cloud migrations, platform modernization, or infrastructure transformation projects
  • Led or participated in end-to-end platform migrations, including on-prem to cloud transitions, and production cutovers

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead software engineering delivery across frontend and backend (Java) systems
  • Drive the technical execution of the DR-first migration and ensure readiness for full cutover to Azure
  • Define and enforce software engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles
  • Oversee the design and refactoring of services for scalability, modularity, and performance
  • Manage engineering capacity, prioritize technical debt, and ensure sprint throughput aligns with business goals
  • Collaborate with DevOps, QA, Security, and Product teams to ensure end-to-end solution integrity

The purpose of this module is to provide students with advanced knowledge and skills in high-level architectural design of software.

Key Performance Areas :

The primary purpose of this position is the development and delivery of effective teaching on qualifications and all associated academic activities such as student engagement and support that will promote student success and learning. This includes responsibility for modules from conceptualisation through to assessment and responsibility for an integrated, effective curriculum within qualifications. Participation in scholarship such as research is also required. Effective lecturers need to be active members of the institutional academic community, contributing to and participating in the development, effective governance, and reputation development of the institution.

  • Lecture/practicum preparation, delivery and all related teaching and assessment activities across the required modes of delivery.
  • Marking of assessments providing timeous and constructive feedback to students.
  • Development of ICE activities, learning material such as manuals, assessment instruments and rubrics and memoranda as required.
  • Participation in peer review of the marking and lecturing of other lecturers; and
  • Participation in lecturing quality assurance and development associated with own teaching.
  • May be required to internally moderate assessments scripts that fall within the respective subject fields, where necessary across IIE sites of delivery.
  • Assist where required with the experiential learning of students in their programme.
  • Conduct student support interventions where required.
  • Appropriate academic administration as required.
  • Involvement with Teaching and Learning activities, including onboarding, peer reviews, internal moderation and the production of a teaching portfolio.
  • Consultation with students to provide academic support.
  • Engagement in review and improvement and quality assurance activities of the IIE's School of Engineering, Science and Health.
  • Adherence to institutional norms, standards, policies, and processes; and
  • Development of academic material and assessments on programmes as required, including, but not limited to, the roles of developer, moderator or equivalent for the Central Academic Team (CAT)

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • A minimum of BEng/BIng/BSc (Eng) (NQF 8) in Mechanical / Electrical/ Electronic/ Computer Engineering and a Master's degree in the relevant discipline. Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) would be highly advantageous.

Minimum Work Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years' teaching experience gained from a similar higher education role at a recognised tertiary institution. Alternatively, minimum 5 years of related industry experience.

Working Conditions:

  • Demonstrated capability to lecture, conduct tutorials and seminars at tertiary level in an effective manner in the qualification(s) stipulated at the highest academic level;
