Lecturer: Engineering
to join their dynamic academic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a passionate and knowledgeable engineering professional to contribute to the education and development of future industry leaders. The ideal candidate will bring both academic expertise and practical industry experience to deliver high-quality instruction and mentorship to students.
Academic Leadership & Campus Support- Assist with reviewing academic results of all students within the School on campus and implement an appropriate teaching and learning strategy for “At risk” students and “At risk” modules.
- Provide academic counselling and support to students within the School.
- Support the development of new programmes for accreditation.
- Support development of academic material and assessments on programmes within the School by acting as developer, module leader, moderator or head of programme for the Central Academic Team (CAT).
- Provide support to the campus marketing team with specialised knowledge of the programmes with the School.
- Assist with plagiarism offences and disciplinary procedures.
- Involvement in, and management of, academic support and administrative duties during the campus registration period.
- Assist with the student tracking process.
- Conduct student consultations.
- Be an active member and/or Chairperson of Engineering Committees.
- Assist the School with Teaching & Learning initiatives.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Minimum of a BEng and a Master of Engineering (NQF Level 9) in Civil Engineering.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer would be highly advantageous.
Minimum Work Experience Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience in Teaching and Learning (preferably in a tertiary education environment).
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum design and development.
- A record of research and publication in scholarly journals and/or conference proceedings.
- Must have an understanding of the regulatory framework and its impact on higher education and private colleges.
- Professional/advanced communication skills.
- Organisational and planning skills.
- Tolerance for operating in a pressurised environment and industry.
- Ability to analyse and interpret data.
- Attention to detail and focus on quality.
- Advanced teaching and learning expertise evidenced by a Teaching Portfolio.

- Assist in the coordination of the engineering society focusing on student industry engagement.
The incumbent is required to promote a culture of scholarship within their practice, discipline and campus/team and is also required to contribute towards the campus achieving its annual research output targets.

The incumbent will be responsible for all administrative tasks within the Clinical Engineering (CE) Department. This job requires a well-organized, enthusiastic individual with good interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work in a demanding environment, with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail is crucial.
Critical Outputs
- Maintain a sound filing, archiving, and retrieval system for medical equipment records, including medico-legal records, ensuring adherence to legal retention requirements.
- Perform administrative duties related to the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), proactively identifying, reporting, and owning system and end-user errors.
- Serve as the super-user for the CMMS, maintaining data integrity and providing training for hospital staff as needed.
- Participate in SHEQ procedures (OHSC Act) and Quality Management Systems related to the Clinical Engineering department.
- Accurately capture all equipment and maintenance activities, and process all maintenance job cards on the CMMS daily, ensuring timely resolution of high-priority faults/requests.
- Generate and distribute CMMS reports regularly to relevant stakeholders.
- Manage stock take and inventory control of critical spares, tools, and equipment within the CE Department.
- Implement control registers to regulate movement of medical equipment and contractors.
- Generate and process all CAPEX and OPEX purchase requisitions on SAP promptly.
- Follow up on purchase orders and invoices, ensure receipt on the system, and maintain an accurate expenditure and accruals spreadsheet.
- Develop a good understanding of medical equipment.
- Provide secretarial support to the Clinical Engineering department, including correspondence, meeting minutes, statistics, message taking, diary management, and meeting facilitation.
- Support day-to-day operations, ad hoc projects, capital projects, quotes, document control, and training arrangements.

- Strong computer literacy, especially in MS Office
- Post-matric office administration qualification is advantageous
- Experience with CMMS SAP PM is advantageous
- Knowledge of clinical engineering in a hospital setting is advantageous
