As a Data Architect at the Manager Level within the Africa Tech team, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing the firm’s data architecture to support strategic goals and enhance business decision-making processes. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure that data assets are well-governed and accessible. Your role will emphasize innovation, continuous improvement, and leveraging AI-assisted tools to transform data into actionable insights while fostering a shared commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Architecture Design:

• Develop and maintain scalable and secure data architecture frameworks and patterns that align with the firm’s strategic objectives and operational needs.

• Design and implement robust data models and patterns that optimize data storage, retrieval, and transformation processes, promoting high data quality and availability.

2. Data Governance and Quality:

• Collaborate with the Data Governance and Quality team to establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

• Implement data quality controls and best practices to maintain the integrity and reliability of data assets, enhancing trust among stakeholders.

3. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

• Work with various teams, including Application Architects, Data Engineers, and business units, to gather requirements and understand data needs.

• Facilitate discussions to articulate data-related challenges and opportunities, promoting a collaborative approach to data management.

4. Technology Evaluation and Implementation:

Qualifications and Skills :

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or equivalent experience.

• Certifications in Data Management Professional, AWS Certified Big would be advantageous.

• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in data architecture, data management, or related roles within a complex enterprise environment.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in data modeling techniques and tools (e.g., ERwin , Microsoft Visio), and strong knowledge of database management systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and data warehousing concepts.

• Familiarity with data governance principles, data quality frameworks, and cloud data platforms.

Soft Skills:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, fostering a proactive approach to data management challenges.

• 10+ years in data architecture, with at least 5 years in telecom BSS domains (CRM, billing, order management, product catalog)
• Proven experience leading large-scale data migrations, preferably in greenfield or transformation contexts
• Deep understanding of data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical), data warehousing, and integration patterns
• Hands-on expertise with tools such as Informatica, Talend, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent
• Familiarity with TM Forum frameworks, SID models, and telecom data standards
