Job Description
Chief Financial Officer
Location: Durban (Hammarsdale)
Type: Permanent · Executive Leadership
Lead the numbers. Shape the strategy.
If you’re a hands-on CFO who thrives in manufacturing complexity, this is where your commercial edge will move the needle.
About the Role
As the CFO, you’ll own the full finance agenda—stewarding financial operations, reporting, and governance while partnering closely with the CEO and COO to drive sustainable growth. You’ll manage cash, capital, and performance, and ensure our ERP, costing, and reporting foundations are robust and decision-ready.
Beyond core finance, you’ll oversee IT and Procurement, shaping policies, controls, and commercial contracts that protect value and unlock efficiency at scale.
Who the Client Is
A well-established South African manufacturer with strong operational footprints and an ambitious growth agenda. The environment is fast-paced, quality-driven, and transformation-focused where disciplined execution, accurate costing, and reliable reporting underpin every decision.
What You’ll Do
Lead end-to-end financial management, ensuring policies, transactions, and procedures align to standards and strategy.
Own cash flow, liquidity, banking relationships, and working capital discipline.
Direct finance teams (debtors, creditors, cost accounting); deliver weekly cash flows and accurate product/standard costing.
Provide pricing insight and strategic financial analytics to enable responsible, data-led decisions.
Keep IFRS knowledge current; set and maintain Group financial policies, procedures, and controls.
Oversee commercial contracts and Procurement for value, risk, and compliance; review contracts before settlement.
Ensure financial systems/records integrity; ERP accuracy, correct overhead allocation, and maintained procedure manuals.
Identify and escalate irregularities/weak controls; liaise with auditors, bankers, and insurers.
Act as strategic partner to CEO/COO: long-term planning, forecasting, risk/opportunity management, and performance improvement.
Lead shareholder reporting and Board-level packs, budgets, and forecasts up to consolidation.
Drive compliance across IFRS, tax, CIPC, and supply chain governance frameworks.
Rebuild and develop a high-performing finance team and culture of accountability.
What You Bring
Registered CA(SA) with ~10 years’ post-qualification leadership experience in manufacturing finance.
Strong costing/management accounting capability and SYSPRO expertise.
Mastery of IFRS, tax, and regulatory reporting; proven stakeholder communication.
Hands-on, detail-orientated operator who can solve problems under pressure and improve processes.
What Success Looks Like
Reliable, timely financials and management information that enable confident executive decisions.
Tight cash, working capital, and cost control delivering improved margins and liquidity.
Accurate standard/product costing and ERP data integrity supporting pricing and profitability.
Robust policies, controls, and compliant supply chain practices with clean audits.
A trusted leadership presence that lifts team capability and cross-functional performance.
Rewards & Challenges
You’ll have broad impact and visibility, shaping strategy and systems end to end. Expect complexity—multiple stakeholders, stringent deadlines, and the rigour of manufacturing costing—balanced by the satisfaction of building a high-trust, high-performance finance function.
