Reports to : Executive Director

The Catholic Health Care Association of Southern Africa (CATHCA) is the Catholic Church’s associate body for health in South Africa, Botswana, and Eswatini. The organization was established in 7 and is a proud affiliate of the Southern African Catholic Bishops Conference. CATHCA is a membership-based association consisting of over faith-based, community-linked organisations working at the intersection of primary health care, mental health, HIV / TB, GBVF, and child safeguarding in some of the neediest communities in the region.

CATHCA seeks to recruit a Public Health Advisor based in Rosebank, Johannesburg. The Public Health Advisor will work closely with the Executive Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Track, analyze, and advise on public health policies, trends, and needs.
  • Develop training programmes and learning materials.
  • Facilitate training sessions and evaluate the effectiveness of training interventions.
  • Participate in stakeholder forums and advocacy initiatives for health system strengthening.
  • Support planning, fundraising, implementation, and reporting activities.
  • Contribute to other activities as needed to support the mission of CATHCA.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health (NQF Level 8 or higher).
  • Expertise in NCD, HIV / TB, and Mental Health.
  • Experience in training design and facilitation.
  • Knowledge of donor-funded grants.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Duties & Responsibilities

  2. Project Management : Developing and executing communications and advocacy strategies for clients and partners, focused on major regional health and development challenges. Overseeing project finances and developing budgets.
  3. Client Management : Being the main contact person for various clients on assigned projects, working with donors and funders.

As a Director within our client's organization, you will be involved in various areas, from forming strategies for clients to communication, seeing each project through, as well as managing several projects and people simultaneously.

The Asian University for Women (AUW) invites applications from outstanding faculty to join AUW for a faculty position in Public Health in the Spring 2025 Trimester. The mission is to develop and deliver academically rigorous academic programs in Public Health.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality courses in Public Health, demonstrate teaching excellence, engage in research activities, and enrich the academic experience. Additionally, the position requires active participation in the academic programs and University through service and collaborative initiatives.

  • Develop programs and the course curriculum
  • Deliver lectures, conduct tutorials, and quizzes, and prepare assignments on the assigned courses.
  • Teach 24 credits per academic year.
  • Serve as an academic advisor and mentor to students.
  • Supervise students in developing and implementing senior thesis projects including guiding them in data analysis, thesis writing, and presentation of findings
  • Attract research funding and engage in research
  • Provide leadership and service on academic committees and academic initiatives
  • Maintain office hours for students

Other Requirements

  • PhD degree in Public Health and allied areas from a recognized university
  • Publications in prestigious journals and subject-matter journals /conferences
  • Outstanding record of research accomplishments and a strong dedication to service, mentoring, graduate teaching, attracting external funding, and making an impact in multidisciplinary research
  • A strong understanding of inclusivity and diversity in the classroom and beyond
  • Candidates applying for the Assistant Professor position should demonstrate a strong aptitude for conducting high-impact research.

Desirable

  • Understanding of the liberal arts model of education.
  • Experience or interest in working in Asia.
  • Experience or interest in teaching at women-only institutions.

Ability and willingness to teach students whose native language is not English

Select courses from Introduction to Public Health, Introduction to Epidemiology, Principles of Biostatistics, Research Methods in Public Health, Applied Biostatistics, Introduction to Environmental Health, Health Policy and Ethics, Reproductive, Maternal and Child Health, Introduction to Global Health, Health Communication and Health Promotion, Infectious and Tropical Diseases, Epidemiology, Social and Behavioral Sciences in Public Health, and more, depending upon the area of expertise.

Our client in the Public Health space is seeking an Operations Co-Ordinator. This position plays a vital role in team resource management, meeting/travel planning and logistics, and contract management and payment, primarily in SA. Experience in working with a global team is also ideal. The Operations Coordinator must possess a keen eye for detail, planning, organization and enjoy building and refining implementation processes and systems. The ideal candidate should be able to work adeptly both independently and in a team.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operations Support
    • Coordinate the operations workplan and project managing operations projects of varying types and scopes
    • Provide operational support
    • Primarily support contract development, management, oversight, payments, liaising with program staff leads and contractors for the Southern Africa Hub and as needed globally
    • Coordinate travel arrangements, including booking flights, reserving meeting spaces, and providing other logistical support as required for events for the Southern Africa hub and as needed globally
    • Manage procurement of office supplies, equipment, and technology for the Southern Africa hub.
    • Coordinate and monitor routine maintenance services for the Southern Africa hub including planning and coordinating office moves, setting up office space, standard equipment repairs, or minor renovation projects as needed.
    • Track and process invoices, contracts, expense reports, etc. through ADS
  • General Administrative Support
    • Support the Southern Africa Director with calendaring support and travel arrangements and other forms of support as prioritized and other duties as needed, including booking travel and submitting reimbursements
    • Support Southern Africa Hub with logistics for events.
    • Compose, edit and/or draft presentation materials (Powerpoint), background documents (Word) and materials, reports and agendas for the organisation
