Position Overview: Take full responsibility for the accurate receiving of stock. Perform access control function on receiving area, monitor all entries and exits as well as documents. Safeguard company assets. It is required that the incumbent is able to attend to his / her function as quickly and efficiently as possible, so that customer satisfaction is rated as excellent. Speed and accuracy is of the essence to meet customer service demands on the branch. The role requires a person to be able to work well independently and within the team in the warehouse. The incumbent will be required to interface with the material handlers, sales, drivers and management, thus good interpersonal skills and a customer centric approach is required. Key Responsibilities: Take full responsibility for goods received as well as identifying and assisting with improvement initiatives for the warehouse together with other staff members. Ensure quality control is in place to avoid receiving faulty or damaged goods. Ensure that returns to suppliers are properly documented and signed for before goods leave the premises. Ensure that all tasks associated with the receiving area are performed efficiently, keeping receiving area clear at all times by moving stock previously received into respective racks. Ensure all stock is packed away in the correct areas. Critical, to perform second check on all material received and documentation before passing onto next responsible staff member to input into Syspro. Prevent stock losses by ensuring that what is signed for is exactly what is received. Personally, assisting with the receiving process - picking and packing when required leading by example so that other staff members feel inspired to do their best. Be an active player in stock take preparation. Assist with perpetual stock counts on a daily basis as directed by management as well as bi-monthly stock take process. Ensure the timeous and accurate picking and collection of work in progress, (WIPs). Inform relevant staff of the arrival of special coloured stock, (WIPs) so that goods get invoiced timeously and despatched accordingly. Secure all company assets such as stock and vehicles by making sure access is controlled at all times. Ensure good housekeeping and safety regulations are adhered to at all times. Assist branch with ad hoc tasks when required, offering relief where required, which may include deliveries if capacity is short to maintain service levels refer Branch Manager. Working pro-actively with management, pointing out challenges of the warehouse, highlight shortages in stock. Be available for overtime where business demands Devote all working hours to form an active part of the Sheerline team to fulfil the business objectives of the company. Comply with all company policies and procedures as laid out in the company internal control document. Report to management anything unusual or practice that is different to Company guiding policies. Form an active part of the team to improve customer service and perform any other functions that may be requested by management from time to time. Preferred Requirements: Minimum 2 years previous experience in an aluminium distribution environment or similar is prefered. Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent & valid Code 10 drivers license preferred. Knowledge of Sheerline Aluminium Systems and Hardware (preferred) Computer Literacy mandatory. Exposure to receiving goods with accuracy. Demonstrated supervisory experience essential. Friendly can-do attitude with speed, flexibility and accuracy when dealing with peers, first line management, other staff at the branch and with customers.

The role ensures that stock is accurately recorded, properly maintained, and delivered to customers on a right-first-time basis. The Inventory Controller will manage all transactional activities, documentation, and stock control, while assisting with operational efficiency and quality standards.

responsibilities

  • Oversee storage and movement of stock in the warehouse, ensuring proper categorization and organization.
  • Maintain stock bins and locations in cooperation with segment managers, including segment separation, demo stock, and RMA’s.
  • Control and account for stock movements (inbound and outbound), including off-loading, verification, GRV capture, invoicing, and shelving.
  • Prepare and manage dispatches: verify invoices, package goods, prepare waybills, and arrange cost-effective deliveries.
  • Conduct quarterly stock takes and cycle counts, reconcile discrepancies, and report findings to accounting/finance.
  • Support over-the-counter sales in cooperation with sales coordinators.
  • Uphold strict access control within the warehouse.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and assist Warehouse Manager with MIS reporting.
  • Ensure proper warehouse housekeeping to maintain safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain professional customer service, following up on deliveries and internal stock processes

Requirements

  • Matric certificate required.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Warehousing Operations strongly recommended.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in warehouse, inventory, or stock control roles.
  • Familiarity with stock management systems, such as Granite WMS, Sage 300, and Accpac.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory management systems.
  • Knowledge of stock management best practices and products kept in stock.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with customers and work collaboratively in a team.
