Responsibilities
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.
- Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls)
- Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
- Ensure effective inventory controls are kept of networking equipment
- Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation
- Ensure that all equipment is fully functional and update documentation as required.
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
- Adhere to company and department policies and procedures
- After hours standby on a rotational basis
- 2nd line data and voice downtime troubleshooting and support
- Provide support to the 1st line helpdesk support team to manage all telco related data and voice troubleshooting and support
- Escalate any issues that cannot or are not resolved timeously to 3rd line support/vendor and follow up with them on the progress and resolution of these issues.
- Ensure that all issues resolved are well documented and if required update both the 1st line and 3rd line support structures and the standard procedures manual.
- Support Network team with support functionality and training of users on VOIP phones system.
Requirements
- Tertiary or related IT qualification (advantageous) N+ / A+
- Preference will be given to candidates with five-plus years network experience
- In-depth understanding and practical knowledge of networking systems such as LAN, firewalls, SD-WAN, Access Points, routers and routing.
- A good understanding of computer hardware and terminology
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to liaise with all levels of the organisation
- Ability to problem solve and prioritize issues
- A self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills

The Associate Network Engineer is an entry level subject matter expert, responsible for working under supervision and playing a vital role in supporting and maintaining company network infrastructure.
