Network Engineer - Tier 4

Applications are invited for the Network Engineer - Tier 4 position to be based in Plattekloof.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

As a Network Engineer – Tier 4, you will work with both hardware and software to ensure the smooth operation of network systems. This includes installing and maintaining network components such as routers, switches, and data centre equipment. You will monitor and optimize core network performance and troubleshoot any issues that arise.

Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

• Manage the RFC deployment and compliance.
• Manage capacity planning.
• Implement and administrate any required change management
• OSPF planning, management and optimization.
• MPLS/VLANs planning, configuration and management.
• Planning and advanced, maintenance and support of:
• Router configurations and L2 Switching.
• Network device management.
• Advanced IP planning, deployment and management.
• Advanced Firewall planning, deployment and management.
• Logical design, drawing and documentation of networks (as per RFC).
• Responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting the network.
• Enforcement of SOP.
• Escalate all advanced RF or Fibre problems to relevant departments.
• Reports into the NOC Team Leader and assists with management, planning, implementation and maintenance.
• Manage projects effectively.
• Advanced fault finding.
• Compile reports as required.
• Any adhoc task as per the operational requirement of the business.

The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:

• 5 years Network Engineer experience.
• OSPF Routing Expert.
• MPLS Intermediate/Expert.
• Mikrotik Routers Expert.
• L2 Switching Expert.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas both written and verbally.
• Must be able to compose and manage complex network.

• Proven experience on: UBNT & Cambium.

Network Systems Engineer

This person will report to the Network Manager.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

As the Network Systems Engineer at Herotel, you will be responsible for the implementation, support, and maintenance of all network systems. You will also be responsible for provisioning new systems to meet the network teams' business goals.

Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

• Setting up and managing all network related systems required to meet the organizational objectives, this includes installing, configuring, supporting, and maintaining.

Key responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.
• Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls)
• Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability.

• Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation
