Overview

The purpose of the role is to lead a team of controllers that provides end to end support to the Pingo driver network. Proactively monitor performance indicators and exception dashboards, resolving problems timeously to ensure that Pingo meets its service level agreement to our customers.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor order pipeline and order flow from pick complete to delivery
  • Team stats, analysis and recommendations on improving KPIs
  • Escalation of stores that are falling behind their SLA
  • Proactively manage exceptions - resolving problems timeously to prevent any delays on order
  • Continuous driver attendance management throughout the shift
  • Handle any escalations from Controllers to minimise business disruption, while making note of further training or process changes to prevent escalation in future.
  • Provide regular training and feedback to Controllers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and development.
  • Promote collaboration and teamwork among control centre staff, facilitating open communication and knowledge sharing to enhance overall performance.
  • Work with the other Team Leaders to ensure a consistent and aligned leadership team.
  • Quickly and effectively manage, in conjunction with HR, any employee relation matters
  • Manage sick leave and attendance, break schedules to minimize downtime and maximize productivity without compromising employee well-being or regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure seamless communication and coordination during shift handovers for operational continuity and efficiency. Follow structured information exchange and collaboration between shifts, minimizing disruptions and maximizing productivity
  • Participate in post-incident debriefs and reviews to identify lessons learned and opportunities for improvement in emergency response protocols and implement corrective actions as necessary to enhance future response capabilities.
  • Provide regular feedback on systemimprovements and/or challenges to help drive system improvements.
  • Troubleshoot driver and system related technical issues and provide comprehensive insight and feedback.
Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent at NQF level 4 (essential)
  • Diploma in supply chain management/ transportation/ safety management or equivalent at NQF level 5 (preferred)
  • Code B Driver’s License (essential)
  • Own reliable car (essential)
  • At least 3 years working experience in an operations environment (essential)

  • Monitoring debtors days and overdue percentages, ensuring accounts are paid within terms and credit limits.
  • Preparing and maintaining daily and weekly cash flow forecasts and submitting monthly actual cash flow reports.
  • Authorizing claims for credits, verifying all supporting documentation before final approval.
  • Creating and amending customer accounts on Syspro, coordinating with sales representatives and ensuring accurate setup.
  • Compiling and submitting credit applications for vetting and notifying relevant stakeholders of approvals.
  • Generating and maintaining reports, including weekly claim trackers, monthly AR trial balance, and age analysis.
  • Verifying and signing off on distributor and transporter monthly billings and addressing discrepancies promptly.
  • Supervising the debtors team, setting performance goals, managing leave, and ensuring compliance with audit and year-end processes.

  3. Achieve employee morale survey targets, manage leave and absenteeism, and implement HR practices in line with company strategic objectives.
  4. Ensure effective inter-departmental and internal communication.
  5. Carry out routine maintenance checks and ensure all necessary service parts are available prior to attending customer sites.
  6. Proceed to customer’s premises, report to the customer’s contact, diagnose faults, and inform the Service Coordinator and customer of the approximate time of completion.
  7. Rectify any faults as required by the customer, ensuring that the machine is left operating safely and that the work has been carried out to the customer’s satisfaction.
  8. Provide technical assistance, coaching, and on-the-job training to all Field Service Team members, ensuring quality of service.
  9. Manage finances of the team in line with budget and department strategic objectives, ensuring all company policies and set targets are met.
  10. Ensure OHSACT requirements are met on own and customer premises.
  11. Drive customer service excellence by building and developing strong relationships with internal and external customers.
  12. Provide scheduled (monthly, weekly, and daily) ad-hoc reports as requested by the department manager.
