Hire Resolve is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Advisor to join our client team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert tax advice to our clients, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, and maximizing tax efficiency for individuals and businesses.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and file tax returns for individuals, companies, and trusts (including VAT, PAYE, and provisional tax).
Assist in preparing tax computations and reconciliations.
Conduct basic tax research and assist with drafting client advice under guidance.
Communicate with SARS regarding queries, verifications, and assessments.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and correspondence logs.
Support the senior team with tax planning projects and client presentations.
Monitor client deadlines and compliance status.
Liaise with accounting and audit teams to gather relevant tax data.
Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and SARS practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field (required).
1–3 years of tax-related experience in a professional services or corporate environment.
Experience with SARS eFiling, , and tax compliance software is advantageous.
Skills and Competencies:
Solid understanding of South African tax legislation and SARS processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Team player with a willingness to learn and grow.

Job Purpose
To provide tax advice and tax compliance services to a wide range of clients who operate in all sectors. To continually assist and ensure that the Clients receive excellent tax compliance service and thus build and maintain relationships that support the PKF Octagon culture and values. Quality, accuracy and Client service is of paramount importance and is a specific requirement of this position.
Main Responsibilities And Accountabilities
The successful applicant will be required to handle (but is not limited to) the following:
- Prepare Objections for submission to SARS and submit to SARS as required by the Client and Partners. To liaise directly with the relevant Partner before the submission is made to SARS.
- Attend to Objections from start to finish ensuring quality of service and accuracy of output and acting in the best interests of the Client.
- Ensure ongoing follow up and tracking with SARS on all tax related matters, including the objections and submission, on behalf of the Client.
- Take the IT registrations, Tax Clearance, Tax Applications and Objections to SARS and ensure they are properly received.
- To accurately process and log all information on GreatSoft.
- Perform the role of a Client liaison on all tax related matters, ensuring the Client relationship is maintained and excellent services provided.
- Provide continuous and accurate feedback to the relevant Client and Partners.
- Attend to the accurate completion of all tax returns.
- Provide feedback to Partners on the progress of tax returns that you are working on for them.
- Must have at least 5 years of experience in a Tax Compliance role at an Audit and Accounting firm.
- Matric and completed a relevant tax related degree or diploma
- Must know the latest industry and tax rules and legislation.
- Must be computer literate, must know specifically GreatSoft and SARS e-filing.
- Able to apply one’s mind to tax issues.
- Able to interpret information to ensure the maximum benefit to the firm and clients.
- Constantly kept abreast of changes in the industry and able to interpret these changes to the benefit of the firm and clients.

Global Compliance Services (‘GCS’) is a specialised team within Tax and Legal Services using custom built software and tailored work processes to ensure efficient and effective tax compliance services for our clients. GCS has a vacancy for a Corporate Tax Manager to assist with providing various corporate income tax compliance services to its clients, and performing related administrative tasks.

Duties:
- Technical review of corporate income tax returns and supporting schedules using electronically captured data, prepareD by Associates.
- Technical review of calculation of provisional tax payments and preparation of IRP6
- Provisional Tax returns.
- Checking of income tax assessments.
- Liaison with associates / team members regarding clients' affairs.
- Managing of a portfolio of compliance clients.
- Maintaining client records and related correspondence, including preparation of applicable documentation and correspondence.
- Attending to queries raised by SARS and general liaison with SARS regarding clients' affairs.
- Ensuring that clients' tax compliance affairs are kept up to date and that SARS deadlines are met.
- Complying with Tax risk management procedures.
- Delivering quality tax services.
- Keeping abreast with changes in Tax Legislation.

As a Tax ComplianceConsultant, you will provide tax compliance services to PwC’s clients.All tax compliance and associated tasks must be completed in an efficient, professional and timely manner, providing a high quality of service to the client.
Qualifications / Certifications required :
Relevant South African degree / diploma with Taxation as core module
Experience required :
Minimum of 6years’ experience in tax compliance and tax administration
Responsibilities of role :
All tax compliance and tax administrative related work, i.e.
Administration of provisionaland final income tax returns, and other SARS related returns, including companies, trusts, individuals and PBO’s.
Maintenance of tax clients on tax management software (GreatSoft) and SARS eFiling.
Completion and Review income tax returns and assessments on eFiling and manage all SARS correspondence.
Liaison with SARS, clients and staff regarding assessments,objections, disputes, refunds, queries, income tax registrations and deregistrationsetc.
Following up on outstanding SARS matters.
Meet with SARS on behalf of clients and PwC.
Ensure that clients’ tax compliance affairs are kept up to date and SARS deadlines are met, delivering quality tax services.
Complete and submit VDP-applications.
Approval of International Transfers (AIT) and tax compliance status requests
Responding to SARS verification queries.
Client and PwC staff consultations regarding tax compliance and tax administration matters.
Support tax compliance co-team members and manager.
Comply with internal risk management procedures.
Issuing fees and following up on debtors.
Attend internal and external training andcomply with annual CPD requirements.
Training and coaching of staff.
Skill sets required :
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, should focus on detail, be accurate,organised and able to work independently within a team environment.
Strong multi-tasking skills and pro-active towards tasks and deadlines
Sound computer literacy (i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, etc.) and administration skills.
Experience on GreatSoft or similar tax database package advantageous
Sound knowledge and experience in the South African Income Tax Act and Tax administration Act, dealings with SARS and SARSeFiling.
Registered tax practitioner or willing to register as a tax practitioner.
Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
Must be prepared to work overtime if required.
Valid driver’s licence and own transport

We are currently looking for a Tax & Legal Risk Compliance Specialist within our Tax & legal Business unit in Johannesburg Description of the role and purpose of the job : To ensure that all internal risk management procedures, as prescribed by KPMG Global Risk Management, are completed for all Tax & Legal engagements prior to engaging with clients and prior to client work being performed .
Key responsibilities :
- Gain a good understanding of what services Tax & Legal provides to clients.
- Keep updated on changes to risk management processes and policies.
- Assist with queries related to Risk Management.
- Completing various stages of the risk management processes and communicating updates to the relevant engagement teams.
- Loading client's information onto the client and engagement management system.
- Applying for client forensic reports.
- Liaise with various stake holders, at different levels in the firm.
- Assist engagement teams with queries relating to the client-take-on process.
- Attend all team meetings and training relevant to the Risk function.
