Role Overview

We are seeking a reliable and technically skilled Field Technician to join our Service Department. This field-based role is essential for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of fire protection systems at our client sites.

Key Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Weekly testing of fire pumps and installation of control valves (ICVs)
  • Responding to client call-outs for repairs and checks
  • Managing subcontractors when required
  • Attending on-site meetings and performing technical assessments
  • ICV servicing
  • Troubleshooting and resolving system issues on-site

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the fire sprinkler industry
  • Solid understanding of fire protection systems and maintenance procedures
  • Ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to travel locally to client sites
  • Own transport required (fuel allowance provided )

Beneficial but Not Required

  • Diesel mechanical knowledge
  • Electrical knowledge
  • Plumbing knowledge

Keeping CRM tickets up to date – from initial assignment to completion of support request.

Working closely with the service/support desk to make sure appointments are managed and client expectations are met.

Ensure technical best practice is used for all products and services installations.

Ensure all installation deadlines are met.

Ensure adequate communication of risks, issues and progress to Projects and Operations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Grade 12.
  2. Own reliable transport and valid driver’s license.
  3. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a field technician role.
  4. PABX certifications.
  5. Solid networking knowledge – installation, configuration, and maintenance of network devices (layer 2 and 3), which include switches, wireless access points and network access control applications.
  6. Network configuration knowledge must include creation of VLANs, packet tagging, configuration and testing of STP and QoS and troubleshooting ability.
  7. Solid VoIP knowledge – installation, configuration and maintenance of VoIP based PABX systems and call centres.
  8. Working knowledge of different provider links and last mile connectivity.
  9. Good communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships with all levels of staff and clients.
  10. Good planning and organisation skills.
  11. Sense of urgency and desire to get the job done on time and according to the highest standard.

SALARY:

• R25k – R30k; negotiable depending on experience
