We are seeking a Senior Project Manager for an initial 12-month contract, onsite in Cape Town.
The role requires expertise in finance and project management as relates to Financial Consolidation, Financial Planning, and Analytics.
The assigned project manager will be broadly responsible for:
- Generation of Business Requirements
- Collaborating with stakeholders to enable business analysts to gather and document detailed business requirements.
- Transformational Delivery
- Leading the transformational delivery of the finance capabilities in scope.
- System and Data Delivery
- Overseeing the implementation of systems and data solutions that support finance reporting, planning and analytics.
- Establish necessary workstream governance and structures.
- Developing and maintaining project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Coordinating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Effective Risk, Issue, Actions, Budget & Dependency management.
- Accountable for optimal resource utilisation.
- Ensuring timely and effective communication with all stakeholders.
- Monitoring and reporting on project progress and performance.
- Define & manage the project in accordance with the PM methodology, governance & standards.
- Ensure alignment between approved Business Case & project delivery.
- Smooth transition from project implementation to ongoing BAU Support & Maintenance.
- Accountable for procurement process, vendor contracting & delivery management in accordance with contractual agreements.
- Effective utilisation of project management forums for reporting, escalation & decision making.
- Establish iterative / agile-based teams, sprints, necessary ceremonies and cadences.
- Track progress through appropriate tools, e.g. agile-based tools incl. burndown charts, velocity, remaining prioritised backlog.
- Qualifications:
- Grade 12.
- Relevant IT or Project Management qualification.
- Experience:
- > 8 years of experience in managing multi-million-rand projects reporting into Programme Management or Executives.
- Applicable experience in Finance Reporting and Finance Transformation including understanding Management reporting, Planning and forecasting, Investor relations, and Statutory and regulatory reporting.
- Relevant experience in managing projects in the financial services sector is crucial, specifically insurance, investments, and lending although industry-specific terminology, regulations, and practices are not required.
- Applicable experience in managing outsourced projects in a multi-vendor environment.
- Proven performance record in managing Business transformation required; with added experience in Infrastructure/Technical/Data projects preferred.

- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Project Delivery department to measure its effectiveness and impact on the organization.

Education
- Business Information Studies/Information Technology/Systems Engineering or a related field.
- A certification in Project Management i.e., PMP (Project Management Professional), PRINCE2, or PMI-ACP (Agile Certified Practitioner).

- Leverage deep IT knowledge to analyse complex business requirements.
- Solid knowledge of Project delivery and Project management with progressively increasing responsibility.

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job:
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of complex subsea cable connectivity and terrestrial fibre infrastructure projects. The role requires deep knowledge of international fibre networks, terrestrial construction, permitting, and stakeholder management across technical, regulatory, and commercial domains.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multi-disciplinary teams, vendors, and stakeholders through all phases of the project lifecycle—from feasibility and planning through to implementation, testing, and handover.
Key Performance Areas:
The Manager, Fixed Network Project delivery key responsibilities include:
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of subsea cable landing projects and associated terrestrial fibre builds, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives.
- Manage full project lifecycle activities including scope, budget, schedule, risk, quality, and resource management.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, Gantt charts, milestone tracking, and project reporting dashboards.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including network engineering, legal, finance, operations, vendors, local authorities, and marine contractors.
- Oversee route survey, permitting, route engineering, and cable installation activities.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements for both subsea and terrestrial works.
- Drive contract and vendor management, including RFPs, negotiations, SLAs, and performance oversight.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings, provide regular project updates, and manage executive reporting.
- Identify and proactively manage project risks and issues, developing mitigation and contingency strategies.
- Champion continuous improvement, standardisation, and best practices in subsea and fibre infrastructure delivery
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Minimum B.Tech/B.Eng. /B.Sc. Computer Science or similar.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent Project Management certification will be an advantage.
Experience:
- 5+ years of project management experience, with at least 3 years in subsea or terrestrial fibre optic cable infrastructure.
- Demonstrated success managing large, complex, and multi-stakeholder projects.
- Deep understanding of fibre network architecture, route acquisition, ROW, permitting, and construction logistics.
- Experience in cross-border projects, particularly in jurisdictions with complex regulatory frameworks.
Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, Jira, etc.).
- Financial acumen for budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities in dynamic environments.
- Familiarity with terrestrial telecom deployments in urban and rural settings.
- Multilingual abilities or experience in international project delivery.

- The Service Delivery & Project Manager plays a critical role in the co-ordination and delivery of operational support and projects to the customer and is seen as an extension of the clients IT Operations team. The role consistently strives to improve and strengthen the customers perception of service quality, through dedicated support expertise, and consistent communication.
- Establishing and maintaining a constructive relationship between the service provider and the customer based on understanding the customer and their business drivers.
- Identifying changes to the customer environment and technology trends that could potentially impact the type, level or utilization of services provided.
- Establishing and articulating business requirements for new services or changes to existing services.
- Mediating in cases where there are conflicting requirements for services from different business units ensuring that the current and future service level requirements (service warranty) of customers are identified, understood and documented in SLA (Service Level Agreement) and service level requirements (SLR) documents.
- Negotiating and agreeing levels of service to be delivered with the customer (either internal or external); formally documenting these levels of service in SLAs.
