• Tertiary Engineering qualification essential (B Tech, B Sc Eng or similar).
• Factory Government Certificate of Competence.
• 5 – 10 Years of experience in Maintenance Management (3 in corporate project engineering team).
• Successful track record in Managing Engineering within an FMCG environment.
• Hands-on engineering background - mechanical/process.
• Strong analytical skills and a holistic approach to developing initiatives.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and a track record of good stakeholder relationship management.
• Solid People Management and Capex Project Management experience.

Strong knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety and Food Safety systems and standards.

MAIN PURPOSE:

This position plays a crucial role in the financial management of the organisation by analysing and reporting on various aspects of production costs. This position involves monitoring, recording, and analyzing all costs associated with the manufacturing process to ensure accurate financial reporting and informed decision-making.

ROLE-SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Cost Analysis:

• Conduct detailed analysis of manufacturing costs, including direct labor, direct materials, and overhead expenses.
• Regularly review and update cost estimates for new and existing products vs expectations.
• Analyse variances between actual and standard costs, identifying and investigating any discrepancies.
• Regularly review the BOM to ensure accuracy with what is happening on the production floor.

• Oversee the valuation of inventory and ensure accurate recording in the financial statements.
• Collaborate with the production team to reconcile physical inventory with accounting records.
• Observe and review the inventory processing procedures regularly i.e. Receiving, Inter-warehouse transfers, daily production reconciliation, issues to production etc.
• Implement and maintain effective inventory control measures.
• Prepare and present regular financial reports related to manufacturing costs to management.
• Provide insights and recommendations based on cost analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts related to manufacturing activities.

• Play a key role in the month-end closing process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts related to manufacturing costs.

• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiency within the manufacturing process.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.

• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
• Assist in internal and external audits related to manufacturing costs.

• Collaborate with various departments, including production, procurement, and finance, to gather relevant cost information.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, providing insights and answering inquiries related to manufacturing costs.

ROLE-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field.
• Professional certificates will be an added advantage (e.g. CIMA, SAICA).

Experience:

• Proven experience in Cost Accounting, preferably in a manufacturing industry.

Must have knowledge of:

• Accounting software and ERP systems (Sage 200 Evolution v9).
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

• Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent.
• Government certificate of competency.
• 7 years' industry experience of which at least 5 years are in a managerial/supervisory role.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
• Track record of production process improvements.
• Experience in PLC equipment drives and automation.
• Experience in refrigeration ammonia plant will be an advantage.
• Electrical problem-solving experience.
• Must have production process experience.
• Good experience of Scheduled, predictive and preventative maintenance.

• Basic Training in Food Safety Management Systems including FSSC 22000.
• Knowledge of Boiler Maintenance.
