1. Lead daily manufacturing operations across High Risk, Labelling, Cheese, Kitchen, Bakery, and Maintenance.
2. Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, FSSC22000, customer specifications, and internal SOPs.
3. Align production with sales forecasts to minimise shortages and meet demand.
4. Oversee packaging and product compliance to quality and food safety standards.
5. Manage preventative maintenance programmes and reduce downtime in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager.
6. Drive a high-performance culture through team leadership, development, and engagement.
7. Monitor material usage, reduce waste, and manage monthly stock counts.
8. Support budget planning and lead cost-saving initiatives.
9. Report on key operational metrics: productivity, waste, quality, maintenance.
10. Manage and optimise annual operational and CAPEX budgets.

A top-tier FMCG manufacturer in Gauteng is after a seasoned Manufacturing Engineer to lead site engineering and utilities operations. They need someone with 5 years + of solid experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably within the beverage, food or consumer goods industry. The role centers on keeping plant equipment running reliably, reducing downtime, and driving proactive maintenance and improvement strategies. A Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechatronic Engineering is required, and a GCC (Factories) is essential for South African candidates. Hands-on knowledge of systems like boilers, HVAC, compressed air, CO₂, and water treatment is a must, along with strong CMMS skills and project coordination ability. • Promote collaboration among all departments supporting the Manufacturing sector (e.g., Communications, Compliance, Credit, Customer, Distribution, Finance, Fraud, IT, Marketing, MI, Pricing, Product, Risk).
• Monitor legislative changes impacting the sector and assess their effects on strategy and customers.
• Compile monthly reports on industry developments and progress.
• Analyze performance metrics to inform reviews and measure market share growth.
• Provide trend analysis and identify growth opportunities across various sectors and regions.

Accountability: Sector Intelligence and Support

• Research and report on key sector variables, trends, and outlooks.
• Support credit teams with research and feasibility assessments for customer deals.
• Assist in building financial models and assessing deal feasibility.
• Maintain data to support sector strategy planning.
• Assess market requirements for new products or services and identify potential markets.
• Develop understanding of customer needs and align sector offerings accordingly.
• Research and propose innovative solutions through industry engagement and external stakeholder interaction.
• Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders on industry trends.
• Identify business opportunities and cross-sell potential through client research.
• Participate in knowledge sharing forums and communities of practice.

• Establish service level agreements with support units.
• Support internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist in hosting events to enhance the sector's brand and relationships.

Education

Bachelor's Degrees and Advanced Diplomas in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies are required.

• Grade 12 or equivalent (Technical qualification preferred)
• 25 Years experience in CNC programming or operation (laser & punching)
• Experience with Metacam or similar CAD/CAM software
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication standards and tolerances
• Strong understanding of nesting techniques, material handling, and machining limits

• Prepare accurate and efficient CNC programs for laser and punching machines (Bystronic, Amada Laser, and Vipros)
• Interpret job cards and engineering drawings
• Verify data accuracy, nesting components, and adhere to standard operating procedures and machine limitations
• Receive and review job cards with machine allocation from the Manager
• Verify material specifications, part lists, and technical drawings for accuracy
• Communicate any discrepancies to the Manager or Drawing Office
• Program parts using CAD/CAM software for laser and CNC punching machines
• Apply correct programming techniques as per SOP guidelines
• Run simulations to validate tool paths and machine readiness
• Log material usage and offcut returns and ensure proper documentation
• Coordinate with Machine Operators to resolve programming or tooling issues
• Maintain organized program files with proper naming conventions
• Adhere to safety standards and machine-specific programming protocols
• Ensure timely completion of design tasks according to the production schedule
