OverviewThe Factory Manager will oversee the Richmond Park Facility in Cape Town, including production lines, staff, and collaboration with procurement and stock management. The role works with the Chief Product Officer and senior managers to ensure products are manufactured to high quality standards, in compliance with safety and industry regulations. Products include LED luminaires, geyser controllers, microgrid controllers, inverters, and lithium-iron batteries.
Role reportingRole Reports into: Chief Product Officer (CPO). Direct Reports: around 3-5. Indirect Reports: around 45.
Responsibilities- Oversee and manage all activities within the production facility
- Work closely with material planners to ensure raw materials are procured on a just-in-time basis
- Assess standard and non-standard manufacturing requirements and the resources they may require
- Oversight of production supervisors and production planning
- Oversee production schedules, timeously adjusting when necessary
- Facilitating regular factory meetings to discuss and manage any issues related to staff, production orders and material or equipment requirements
- Set-up, maintain and provide a monthly factory reports
- Identification and elimination of production waste
- Identification, implementation and maintenance of continuous improvement programs in line with LEAN methodologies
- Drafting and deployment of work instructions and procedures to support and improve factory operations
- Ensuring that factory staff adhere to stipulated company policies, procedures and work instructions at all times
- Ensuring that stipulated health and safety regulations are always met
- Ensuring that all pre-determined quality requirements are always met
- Oversight of repair and maintenance programs of production equipment

- 5-7 yrs experience in a high volume production environment, preferably in lighting, electronics or electrical accessories market space - essential
- 3-5 yrs experience in people management in a production environment with direct people management responsibilities
- Good working knowledge of ERP and MRP systems
- Good working knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS
- Own vehicle and driver's licence
