The Process Engineer will design, implement and improve processes to enhance quality, efficiency and sustainability. A key focus of the role will be to analyse existing processes, identify area of improvement and implement changes to optimise operations. The role analyses workflows, develop process improvements and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Relevant Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering or other relevant qualification

EXPERIENCE
At least 5 years relevant experience in similar position and/or level, in Automotive Manufacturing
Advantageous – Press and Weld Background

TECHNICAL PRE-REQUISITE

Proven working experience in Process engineering
Relevant software knowledge to design, simulate and analyse processes
Strong engineering fundamentals
Experience with Production Processes and quality
Ability to design and implement control systems to regulate process parameters
Safety Knowledge
Ability to run simulations and analyse test data.
ISO 9000, ISO14000
OHS Standards
Knowledge of Microsoft applications, with intermediate Excel
Participate in projects where required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Process Design and Optimisation -Develop new processes and improve existing process to increase efficiency, reduce costs and improve quality
• Process Improvement – Identify areas for improvement in existing processed, implementing changes and monitoring the effectiveness
• Process Analysis – Study existing process to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies and areas of improvement.
• Quality Control – ensures processes meet quality standards, through testing, analysis and the implementation of quality control measures
• Process Documentation – Creating and maintaining documentation for all processes, including work instructions and SOP’s
• Process Implementation – Oversee the implementation of new or modified processes , ensuring they meet safety standards
• Trouble Shooting and Problem Solving – Address technical issues and implement solutions to ensure process stability and reliability.
• Data Analysis – ability to analyse data, identify trends, optimise performance and improve decision making.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams , including production, maintenance and quality to control and achieve process goals.
• Continuous Improvement – Identify opportunities for process improvement and strategies to enhance efficiency and performance
• Safety – Prioritising safety in all aspects of process design and operation, ensuring safety that processes are safe for employees

• Develop, design, and modify processes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Create and maintain process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Projects identified at weekly production meeting / quality meeting
• Participate in and lead HAZOP and HACCP studies
• Use Modprop to document projects
• Ensure that all documentation is provided / updated at completion of the project
• Ensure that all relevant plant personnel are trained in new processes, following project change
• Analyse current processes and identify opportunities to reduce cost, increase yield, minimize waste, or improve cycle time.
• Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or statistical methods to drive continuous improvement.
• Use data from control systems (e.g., SCADA and DCS) to improve performance hooting & technical support
• Conduct mass and energy balances around water, steam, electrical, molasses, yeast and others, on request streams through the plant
• Analyse information to identify opportunities to improve efficiencies benchmark against groups plants
• BSc Chemical Engineering Degree or equivalent
• 2-8 years process experience in analytical and problem-solving fields or disciplines chemical / manufacturing
• Good understanding of process in related fermentation / distilling / baking industry LEAN Manufacturing, TPM or 6 Sigma
• Expert knowledge of all plant processes (fermentation, drying, BCY, dry yeast packing, anaerobic digestion plant, and utilities)

Requirements:

• Minimum 2-4 years’ experience in Process Engineering/Project Management in the brewing/distilling or food manufacturing industry
• Minimum 2-4 year Bachelors/Honors Degree in Chemical/Process Engineering or Industrial Chemistry required
• Ability to generate PFD’s, PIDs, perform process calculations like mass & energy balances
• Modelling skills for plant layout, piping/mechanical design and detailing
• Experience with multidisciplinary coordination including but not limited to civil, mechanical, electrical, control & automation, production
• Ability to work in a team
• Advanced time management, analytical and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in the use of 2D and 3D CAD systems
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of Microsoft Project represents an advantage
• Available for travel/business trips/relocation

• Producing tender or RFQ documents as required by the project
• Creating, verifying and validating all Material Take Off (MTOs).
• Liaise with equipment, instrument and installation suppliers regarding specifications, design & delivery
• Preparing and completing project plans
• Proposing design improvements, implementing changes and performing quality assurance
• Monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders.
• Perform risk assessments, FMEA, HAZOPS, Hazardous Areas Classifications (HAC) & LOPA
• Develop Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• On site commissioning of plant and equipment including mechanical completion verification, punch listing, cold & hot commissioning, performance acceptance testing (PAT) and final handover

• BSc Chemical Engineering degree or equivalent
• 4-8 years process experience in analytical and problem-solving field or disciplines chemical / manufacturing
• Good understanding of process in related fermentation / distilling / baking industry LEAN Manufacturing, TPM or 6 Sigma

PROCESS SUPPORT ENGINEER – KZN – R540K BSc Chemical Engineering Degree or equivalent. 5Years process experience in analytical & problem-solving field chemical/manufacturing. Must have a good understanding of fermentation/distilling/baking industry Lean Manufacturing / TPM / or 6 Sigma. Knowledge of all plant processes / Fermentation / Drying / BCY / Anaerobic Digestion Plant / Utilities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop best-in-class Contract Logistics processes and standards in the SAI Area (Warehousing, Distribution and Cold Storage processes)
• Apply lean principals and six sigma methodologies to ideate and implement space utilisation, product flow and processes improvements to drive efficiency and cost saving during the implementation and operational phases of MCL customer life cycles Collaborate across Business Units to ensure strong change management culture while driving these continuous improvement changes
• Support MCL team to develop and implement KPIs in order to support performance management in the Area across Contract Logistics
• Drive and implement global standards for smooth handover to operational teams

• 3-5 years of experience working in Logistics and Supply Chain Management
• Industrial Engineering Qualification
• Basic Lean principles or Six Sigma methodology knowledge
• Basic physical logistics and warehousing processes knowledge (3PL experience will be advantageous_

• Experience developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) or Standard Work Instructions (SWI)
• Experience working with a Warehouse Management System (WMS)
• Experience developing layouts in AutoCAD
• Strong collaboration, communication and change management skills
