The Financial Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting decision-making through financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting.
• Ensure adherence to tax laws, accounting standards (GAAP / IFRS), and other financial regulations.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation.
• Prepare and review tax returns, VAT reports, and other tax-related filings.
• Analyze costs and financial data to provide insights for business improvement.

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, ACCA, or CIMA preferred).
• 3 – 5 years of experience in the field
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Xero) and MS Excel.
• Strong understanding of IFRS, GAAP, tax regulations, and financial compliance.
• Strong problem-solving and data interpretation skills.
• Accuracy in financial reporting and compliance.
• Ability to present financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.

My client, (multinational) is seeking an experienced accountant to build and lead a high-performing accounting team in support of the Marketing Finance function. This is a hands-on role where you will be instrumental in preparing financial statements and internal management accounts for entities operating in various commodities.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and develop a team responsible for trade accounting and financial accounting tasks.

Understand, perform, and continuously improve existing processes including:

Broker reconciliations

Intercompany reconciliations

Inventory reconciliations

P&L reconciliations and investigation of erroneous trading entries

Month-end journal postings

Liaise with auditors for management and statutory audits.

Contribute to management reporting and analysis.

Build strong working relationships with internal accounting teams across global locations.

Identify opportunities for process automation and improvements.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent

Fully qualified CA(SA) with 3-5 years post-qualification experience

Leadership/management experience preferred (minimum 3 years)

Strong technical IFRS knowledge (IFRS 9, 15, 13, 16)

Keen interest in commodity markets

Excellent IT skills, particularly Excel, and interest in process automation

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage cross-functional relationships

High attention to detail, ownership, and initiative in a fast-paced environment

Advanced written and spoken English

FAAS Regulatory supports the external regulatory audits of a variety of banking clients – giving confidence to the South African Reserve Bank’s (SARB) Prudential Authority, investors, in the strength of a banks’ prudential position. In addition, our professionals advise and provide assurance over the level of compliance with regulatory and prudential aspects as set out in the Basel framework as adopted by the SARB. You will be a member of a multidisciplinary team to help clients in the financial services sector understand and manage their risk and regulatory requirements in order to ensure compliance with all prudential aspects.

Summary

SUMMARY : We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our team. As an Accounting Clerk, you will be responsible for assisting with general accounting duties, such as maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, and reconciling bank statements.

Main Responsibilities :

• General bookkeeping and accounting functions for local and foreign entities, including journal posting, managing the general ledger, bank reconciliations etc
• Preparation of schedules (accruals / cross charges etc) for monthly management accounts
• Payment of invoices, manage creditors age analysis for local and foreign entities
• Review and analyse the accuracy of all supplier invoices, ensuring they have been allocated to the correct expense accounts.
• Managing travel advances, travel expenses and managing directors’ expenses
• Raising invoices in accordance with the engagement letters and preparing debtors age analysis
• Maintaining and reconciling fixed assets schedules, depreciation schedule, acquisitions and disposals of assets
• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Assist with yearly budgets
• Assist with yearly audit
• Assisting with weekly cash flow forecasting
• Posting the payroll journal and perform a recon
• EMP501 Reconciliations and submissions
• Assist Finance Specialist with various ad hoc tasks

• Assist HR with payroll processing and reconciliation against payments
• Assisting Legal with maintaining records, filings and important documents
• Maintenance of the engagement letters, filings and important documents

Minimum Requirements :

• Grade 12
• NDip / Degree in Finance / Accounting with 2 years working experience
• At least 2 years’ experience in a payroll administration, payments, general ledger
• Detailed knowledge of statutory requirements i.e. PAYE, UIF, SDL, COIDA
• Computer literate (Excel - Advanced)
• SageOne Accounting / Xero experience
