Our client, a leader in the automotive industry is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join their team based in Durban.
MINIMUM REQUIRREMENTS- Grade 12
- National Diploma or Bachelor of Commerce in Financial Accounting or related qualification
- Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting), CA(SA) or CIMA advantage
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Provide financial analysis and support to management and all operational areas of the business
- Monitor and support debtors and creditors
- Maintenance of the fixed asset register
- Control intercompany balancing
- Review weekly payroll
- Review and action financial variances (Budget / Forecast)
- Review and action Balance Sheet Account variances
- Ensure compliance with IFRS
- Maintain the plant CAPEX & Tooling Reports
- Generate information and reports for internal and external use
- Comply with Internal Controls
- Maintain and Review the Risk Register
- Participate in the budget/forecast process
- Prepare budgets and forecasts for plants
- Prepare plant P/L and balance sheet forecasts
- Prepare financial reports and returns (Monthly BU/Plant Financial Pack)
- Compile the BU/ Plant Flash Results and analyse variances
- Compile and review Weekly Sales Reports
- Prepare Provisions and Accruals
- Compile Royalties schedule for month end processing

- Maintain the BU/Plant Tooling Reports
- Prepare and plan Year-end Statutory Audit (external and internal) in line with the consolidated Audit plan
- Prepare and arrange royalty audits
- Calculate landed cost on all import shipments
- Prepare / Review DA 190 (Declaration of Imported Components and Raw Materials)
- Investigate Purchase Price Variances (PPV)
- Generate variance report of Actuals to budgeted information
- Compile daily stock holding report
- Oversee Stock Takes
- Assist with investigating stock count variances
- Overall responsibility for stock
- Oversee cash management function of the plant
- Monitor daily cash positions and cash flows to ensure settlement and maximise performance
- Manage cash flow and working capital for the plant
- Review Forex Forecasts
- Plant FEC contracts based on AP requirements
- Identify improvement opportunities and make recommendations for improvements
- Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Prepare financial reports and returns
- Generate information and reports for internal and external use
- Ensure an enabling climate/culture.
- Ensure a safe, secure and legal working environment.
- Manage individual, team and departmental performance to achieve organisational objectives.
- Determine the training needs of the Department.
- Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels
- Ensure discipline is maintained in department (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
- Resolve grievances and disputes
- Identify potential hazards and critical safety issues in the workplace

This role will be based in Durban North.
Job & Company Description:
The purpose of this role will be to provide support for the business through the finance function, working closely with the current Financial Manager. You will also be responsible for transactional and journal control and recons, as well as maintaining the fixed asset register and WIP balances. Other main duties will include budgeting and forecasting for projects and adding cost control, as well as flagging / raising items for attention of senior management.
The successful incumbent will have a strong understanding of a project-based environment, for example construction and building, engineering or civil industries.
You will report to the Group CFO and Group CEO, as well as the Divisional Financial Manager.
- Diploma or Degree in Finance or Accounting essential
- 5 to 7 years' experience within a full finance function position
- Construction / building / engineering / civil industry experience, and understanding of a project-based environment essential
- Knowledge of Sage essential
- Experience with systems and process implementations essential
- Knack for numbers and analytically minded
