The Engineering Planner will be responsible for coordinating and planning activities related to engineering projects, ensuring that all resources are effectively utilized and deadlines are met.
Responsibilities:- Ensure that all compliance requirements are captured and scheduled on the Sage EAM (Enterprise Asset Management System).
- Improve the ratio of planned to unplanned work.
- Improve maintenance personnel utilization.
- Close all maintenance job cards and ensure that the feedback is accurate and in the correct format.
- Arrange resources (spares, materials, hired labour etc.) for maintenance tasks.
- Technical discussions with suppliers regarding spares.
- Co-ordination of shutdown planning in conjunction with the maintenance manager.
- Issues job cards to artisans.
- Follows up with suppliers on deliveries.
- Set up and maintenance of maintenance store and controls stock.
- A Qualified Artisan (Preferably a Millwright).
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing industry.
- Computer Skills: MS Office, Sage, and EAM System.
- Proven experience in project planning and coordination.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

- Manage and lead the software/firmware engineering team
- Review product specifications and designs
- Involved in design and code reviews
- Participate and contribute in planning events, workshops, and system demonstrations

Education and/or Experience

- Experience managing remote individuals that may be located in different timezones and/or countries
- Embedded development experience, with a focus on ARM Linux operating systems
- Programming experience in C/C++, C#, Rust
- Experience developing and deploying applications under Linux and Windows
- Experience with TCP/IP networking, transport layer protocols including TCP and UDP, and application layer protocols including HTTPS
- Experience with Agile methodologies. Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) desired
- Experience with Jira highly desired
- Good knowledge of version control strategies (git flow, git trunk)
- Experience with secure coding practices as well as cyber security
- Understanding on how to make code maintainable
- Knowledge of digital certificates
- Experience with project management

We’re looking for an experienced Assistant Engineering Planner to administer maintenance planning tasks and plant maintenance data on SAP in order to contribute to the overall equipment effectiveness within a specific plant or area in the mill.
As an Assistant Engineering Planner, you will be responsible for:
- Create plant maintenance notifications on SAP and update changes as per the notification request form
- Review all notifications created to ensure all relevant information is captured correctly
- Create work orders from notifications and release them on a weekly basis as per business process for inclusion in the following weeks maintenance plan, adding relevant revision code for the week
- Compile a weekly schedule of all planned work and provide it to superintendents for further action
- Print and issue work orders per artisan and foreman on a weekly basis
- Receive updates from artisans on the progress of work completed and update notification status including hours spent on planned maintenance
- Highlight any action required after the work order has been completed to the planner for further escalation
- Create purchase requisitions for required items and service accept on receipt of items
- Attend shut meetings and take minutes ensuring all items related to the shut are captured i.e. critical paths, rundown start-up, etc, and identify action items arising from the meeting
- Release, print, and issue work orders and work packs to all relevant disciplines two days before the shut
- Print a tracking bar chart for contractors and Sappi resources and assist the planner in updating during the shut
- Draw regular reports on cost, backlog management, plant objectives and targets, and other plant requirements
- Compile and distribute weekly capacity planning reports per maintenance superintendent to highlight and address under utilised / overloaded resources with the relevant superintendent
- Compile, distribute, and analyse a weekly plan compliance report and develop action plans together with the planner and maintenance superintendents
- Adhere to set record-keeping and document control procedures to comply with legal requirements
- Assist with the management of plant and infrastructure maintenance costs
- Analyse maintenance costs to evaluate expenditure and assist area engineers in identifying problem areas
- Assess committed costs and determine if work orders with PAPO (Paperwork outstanding) status can be completed
- Maintain high levels of housekeeping within in area of work

- NQF level 4 qualification (Matric / N3)
- 1-2 years of relevant experience within an engineering environment
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- A recognized trade test certificate will be considered advantageous

- Responsible for the Safety of all project-related operations within the factory, as well as maintaining and setting of safe working procedures; including management of Health, Safety and Environmental aspects of project management from design (PHA, HAZOPS, MDSAS), equipment selection, project implementation (site safety), commissioning and final project handover
- Lead the Early Equipment Management and Planned Maintenance TPM pillar; and SIMAS application
- Create and implement plans to continuously improve site infrastructure needs such as energy, water, treatment, steam and all infrastructure services, contracts and contractors
- Develop, build and make available in the organization the Product, Process and Packaging Expertise relevant to the asset base
- Manage the Projects, Innovation and Maintenance budgets. Asset care and improvement through establishing and maintaining an effective system of preventative maintenance applicable to plant and services (TPM based)
- Manage the engineering contractors and ensure statutory and legal compliance
- Optimize maintenance cost, MTBF, and MTTR for production lines. Optimize spare parts safety stock levels in line with working capital targets of the sourcing unit
- Coach and develop the team across the site on technical and technology issues
Qualifications and Experience required:
- BSc Engineering degree (Mechanical or Electrical)
- Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) is essential
- 8-10 years in FMCG/ Manufacturing operations experience (5 years of management exp)
