We are currently recruiting for a Service Department Manager to join our dynamic team, based in the Northern Suburbs - Cape Town.
The purpose of the Service Department Manager is to effectively plan, control and monitor the performance of the service departments to ensure that they operate at an optimal level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Department targets and profitability of all service departments including:
- Coffee and Juice Bar
- Bakery
- Delicatessen
- Hot Foods
- Produce
- Fish
- Sushi
- Manage stock
- Pricing and POS
- Hygiene and housekeeping
- Manage staff
- Managing customers
- Open and close the store
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric / NQF level 4 equivalent
- Tertiary Qualifications in Fresh Food Management / equivalent
- At least 2 years experience in all aspects of day-to-day running and managing of a Service Department / Trainee Management Programme
- Industrial Relations experience recommended

IntroductionWe are seeking to appoint a Department Manager (Pick/Check/Pack) - Cape Town. The candidate will report into the Branch Manager (CT). (Must be able to work shifts i.e. alternate one week day and one week night etc.)
Job Purpose:
The Department Manager holds ultimate and overall accountability for the entire distribution operations process; including the receipt, storage and control of stock; the assembly of orders and the dispatch of orders to fleet and couriers.
Key Performance Areas:
- Management of all stock, including the processes of receipt, GRN’ing, sorting, packing away, bin maintenance, stock transfers, quarantining of stock, returns of stock to suppliers and stock control activities.
- Compliance, under and subject to the directives of the Managing Pharmacist, with inter alia the legal requirements and the company standard operating procedures (SOPs) relating to quarantining of stock.
- Accountable for managing the risks associated with handling stock and the minimization thereof, including the risks of theft and pilferage, damages, costs associated with expiry and cold chain breach and losses arising out of inaccurate supply against an invoice.
- Accountable for the stock count process on a quarterly basis and the implementation of on-going special and cycle counts of stock.
- Management of the process of assembling stock against an invoice, including the processes of picking (fine and bulk), packing and checking of orders.
- Management of the process of dispatch of stock.
- Management of the process of customer returns of stock, including salvaging of stock and destruction of stock (under the directives of the Managing Pharmacist).
- Accountable for the health and safety and security requirements relating to the building, the operational processes and the staff.
- Accountable for housekeeping in regard to the warehouse and the stock and the machinery in the warehouse.
- Accountable for all maintenance requirements relating to the warehouse and machinery and computer equipment in the warehouse.
- Management of the operations of the distribution contracts, including storage and control of stock, assembling and dispatch of orders against invoice.
- Accountable for the budget for the operations and for compliance with the budget and for reporting progress against and variance with the budget.
- Accountable for the management of the staffing of the operation including compliance with the employment policies.
- Accountable for rectifying and reporting on any discrepancies, procedure breach or non-compliance issues arising out of the report of the Internal Audit department.

About The Organisation And The Role
The SSD is a division of the CSO Cape Town which is a community-based security and medical response organisation.
They are looking for a responsible site security manager to ensure that their assigned site provides a safe, secure and well-maintained environment for the activities of school pupils and employees and to ensure that all physical and personnel security aspects are managed, well-maintained and or repaired in timely fashion.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Security Operations & Management
- Oversee all security-related operations for the site
- Manage security personnel which includes applicable training and assigning of work.
- Assist in emergency management and contingency planning.
- Analyse and evaluate security operations to identify risks or opportunities for improvement.
- Communicate security status, updates, and actual or potential problems, using established protocols.
- Fire, Physical Security & Security Operations
- Ensure all daily operational procedures are adhered to.
- Ensure all systems are regularly maintained and tested, appropriate records kept and related policies and procedures are reviewed and updated as necessary
- Monitor traffic on site including adherence to school rules.
- Ensure fire alarm call points are appropriately tested and fire equipment is in working order.
- Initiate the necessary procedures quickly and accurately relating to the emergency services e.g. Police, Fire, Gas and Electricity Board.
- Health and Safety
- Ensure the campus complies with all current legislation in relation to site safety and facilities management; including the maintenance of appropriate records.
- Oversee all health and safety activities including training, evacuation drills, and developing robust, transparent health and safety systems and procedures.
- Assisting in Building and Grounds Maintenance Oversight
- Assist in the Management of emergency and planned maintenance and repairs
- Ensure all security equipment and perimeter access are in a safe and good condition; liaising with external suppliers and services where necessary.
- Manage the maintenance of school grounds to a high standard of safety and security.
- Provide support in the Management of all security-related contractors on site, ensuring that all health and safety requirements are met which includes monitoring performance and inspection of completed work.
- Undertake routine inspections of the site including daily security-related maintenance checks.
- Work experience and industry exposure
- Matric qualification essential, relevant tertiary qualification is advantageous
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in a supervisory position is required
- Experience in a security environment essential with a minimum PSIRA Grade C with up to date certification.
- CPO experience is a distinct advantage.
- Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to compile reports and manage internal and external stakeholders and service providers.
- Able to stay level headed in stressful situations and work well under pressure.
- Able to manage difficult situations and personalities in a calm and rational manner.
- Able to interact with individuals of all ages and cultures in a clear and respectful manner.
- Excellent Administration and Organisational Skills
- Organised and systematic with strong admin skills.
- Team orientated person with a calm disposition, able to stay level headed in stressful situations and work well under pressure.
- A flexible, self-driven person who takes initiative.
- General
- Valid firearm competency is essential.
- Drivers licence essential, a PDP is advantageous
- Computer literate: Microsoft Outlook & Word and basic knowledge of CCTV
- A clean criminal record is essential as is sound physical health and fitness. Willing to submit to an organisational fitness assessment.
