The successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial advice (Life and Disability Planning; Retirement Planning; Investment Planning; Estate Planning, Employee Benefits & Medical Aid.) to clients.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Optimize business profitability by identifying income opportunities and meeting agreed income targets
- Facilitate requirements between clients and product/service providers
- Track and report progress of agreed implementation to clients
- Issue confirmation of implementation to clients
- Conduct annual reviews with clients
- Scan client base and target market for financial planning opportunities
- Generate leads by identifying appropriate clients/prospects
- Contact clients/prospects to introduce or position products and service offering
- Create interest and secure financial planning meetings with prospects/clients
- Understand and analyze estate plans and make necessary recommendations
- Understand and analyze a client financial needs analysis and make recommendations
- Deliver quality financial planning and advisory services to existing and prospective clients
- Retain existing clients and generate new clients
- Understand and be able to compare the features and benefits of different risk products
- Have a fair understanding of the different analysis tools from a risk perspective
- Keep up to date with tax changes affecting financial/estate planning
- Provide clients with necessary product information when required
Required Qualifications:
- Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning

Overview
ProSidian seeks a Africa Investment Advisor (AIA) - Horn of Africa, headquartered near 1 Sandton Dr, Sandhurst, Johannesburg, 2146, South Africa , to support an engagement for the International Development Finance Corporation. The organization invests across sectors including energy, healthcare, critical infrastructure, and technology and also provides financing for small businesses and women entrepreneurs to create jobs in emerging markets.
The Africa Investment Advisor (AIA) - Southern Africa will perform Business Development and Transaction Support services in Sub-Saharan Africa with responsibility for business development processes including: Transaction Origination, Due Diligence Support, Performance Monitoring Support, and Field Presence Support. The AIA will work as a full-time ProSidian AIA on behalf of the United States International Development Finance Corporation in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Location / Place of Performance: Johannesburg, South Africa with a Geographic Coverage Area (GCA) including Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Lesotho, Namibia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Reunion, Seychelles, South Africa, eSwatini, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Additional places of performance within this GCA may be required.
ResponsibilitiesThe following services deliverables are expected, with travel from the place of performance primarily within the GCA and periodic international travel (about 50% of the time):
- TRANSACTION ORIGINATION: Identify and pre-screen transaction opportunities for DFC product lines in the GCA; conduct business development meetings with potential sponsors and other relevant parties; review project information documents; follow on opportunities from US Government; collect, complete and verify project information; assist with DFC Screening Committee documentation; enter transaction details on the Transaction Pipeline Tracker; ensure transactions originated by the AIA are appropriately recorded.
- DUE DILIGENCE SUPPORT: Assist with due diligence for transactions within the GCA; collect, complete, and verify due diligence information; monitor policy/legislation changes; verify conditions precedent to reach financial close; enter details on the Transaction Pipeline Tracker; support transactions through to screening/closing as applicable.
- PERFORMANCE MONITORING SUPPORT: Support post-execution performance monitoring for transactions that closed within the GCA; collect and verify development impact data; monitor policy changes; verify conditions after disbursements; enter details on the Tracker; categorize transactions as monitored as appropriate.
- FIELD PRESENCE SUPPORT: Provide field presence in the GCA; train local and inter-agency staff on DFC products and eligibility; participate in meetings and events; provide updates on DFC transactions; monitor changes in law, policy, or economic climate; assist travel logistics for senior personnel.
- OTHER PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS: Ensure readiness and participation: Team status meetings, interim updates, weekly plans, Pipeline Tracker updates, and timely submission of work products; maintain professional relationships and action plans.
Required Experience / Skills: Minimum five (5) years of full-time relevant work experience in investment banking, financial advisory, project development, development finance, project finance, financial services, or related consulting; at least three (3) years in emerging markets and at least two (2) years in Sub-Saharan Africa. Proficiency with MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint); ability to communicate via email; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; existing and extensive network in Sub-Saharan Africa; ability to obtain facility access in the Embassy or Consulate; ability to travel for the DFC orientation program in Washington, DC within six (6) weeks of selection.
Language & Other Criteria: Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking); ability to read, write, and speak additional languages as applicable; ability to obtain travel approvals and travel documents.
Geographic / Location: Johannesburg, South Africa; GCA includes listed African countries. Other performance locations may be required.
Travel, Security & ComplianceTravel: Occasional travel may be required; travel is coordinated and approved in advance per Federal Travel Regulations.
Security/Clearance: Some engagements require security clearance; a clearance is a valued asset in this portfolio.
