Responsibilities

Job Purpose

  • Develop, manage and analyse all marketing strategies related to new and existing products in specified areas, which includes product pricing, promotional / launch strategy and sales forecasting and also develop relationships with key stakeholders and participate / organise conferences / congresses to ensure greater product life cycle and maximum return on investment.
  • Includes assistance with demand forecasting as well as providing product and market insights to New Business / Product Development

Accountabilities

  • Develop and monitor product marketing, launch strategies to ensure alignment with local legislation and regulatory standards and maximum return on investment :
  • Develop overall marketing strategy for new and existing products, and also analyse and monitor effective implementation of the same.
  • Develop and manage product life cycle by proposing the right promotional and marketing strategies, pricing for the product in alignment with regulatory, medical and quality standards.
  • Manage product promotion and marketing through channel partners – physicians, patients, pharmacies, health care service providers etc.
  • Manage alignment of product marketing and promotional strategies with local legislations and regulatory standards.
  • Analyse and monitor all marketing activities to ensure maximum return on investment.
  • Manage and monitor promotional / launch budget to ensure optimal operational utilization in coherence with the product life cycle strategy.
  • Develop and manage strategy for re-launch of existing products through integration with pharmacies and other health providers.
  • Develop and monitor sales forecasting for all products and train sales staff on product knowledge to ensure achievement of sales goals :
  • Prepare sales forecasting and demand planning for new and existing products.
  • Manage and monitor achievement of sales goals for the product and devise strategy in-case of underperformance or over-performance.
  • Manage all queries and issues related to sales forecasting and promotional / marketing strategy and pricing of product for sales workforce.
  • Develop content and conduct product knowledge and marketing strategy training for sales workforce, nursing staff etc. to ensure they are equipped with the right knowledge and tools for product marketing & sales.
  • Co-ordinate with supply chain and other internal stake holders to ensure availability of optimum stock levels at all times.
  • Manage, organize and participate in all national and international congresses / conventions to develop relationship with key stakeholders and exchange of information on Cipla products & new treatments / disease :
  • Participate in pharmaceutical product trade shows / international congresses and conferences to ensure to gain knowledge on new products, treatments and diseases.
  • Organize, manage and coordinate conferences for Cipla SA which includes – academic sessions, identifying speakers, schedule, stay / travel and all other administrative activities.
  • Analyse and share data on market intelligence, product performance and product strategy to monitor product performance / sales and ensure effective decision making :
  • Analyse respective therapeutic area marketing performance and share insights with stakeholders to ensure regional needs are appropriated and considered.
  • Identify new market segments for products.
  • Analyse markets and trends and growth value analysis for new products to develop specific strategies.
  • Monitor and analyse competitor marketing, pricing and promotional strategies.
  • Monitor progress of new and existing products (sales update, pricing analysis) to ensure increase in sales and rectify strategies in-case of low response.
  • Create and analyse all product sales, pricing, performance reports and share with the concerned stakeholders for decision making.
  • Develop and manage relationship with key stakeholders to ensure alignment with local legislation and best practices for adequate promotion and placement of Cipla products :
  • Develop key relationships with Cipla global to ensure representation at global level and alignment with global objectives & plans.
  • Maintains and develops relationships with key thought leaders (physicians, medical service providers, local government, academic councils, psychiatry councils etc.) in terms of therapeutic areas to ensure best in class category / product management.
Qualifications and Relevant Experience
  • Relevant Marketing / Bachelor of Science Degree
  • 5 years of experience in marketing & sales within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Analytical skills with creative business insights, ability to multi-task , take independent decisions and good social skills.

Sales Representative - VCIC Division

The company wishes to employ a Sales Representative in the VCIC Division in Cape Town. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the variable consumables interventional cardiology management product portfolios, focusing specifically on Sales in Private and Government sectors.

This is an Employment Equity position.

This position reports to the Regional Sales Manager.

Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years medical experience in private and government sectors in the Western Cape.
  • Theatre and Cath-Lab experience is a requirement.
  • Current relationships with private and government hospitals are a requirement.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Own reliable vehicle.
  • South African Citizen.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serves customers by selling products and meeting customer needs.
  • Services existing accounts, obtains orders, and establishes new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales outlets and other trade factors.
  • Ability to meet sales targets.
  • Adjusts content of sales presentations by studying the type of sales outlet or trade factor.
  • Focuses sales efforts by studying existing and potential volume of dealers.
  • Submits orders by referring to price lists and product literature.
  • Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses.
  • Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques.
  • Recommends changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.
  • Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

PURPOSE

We are looking for an individual who has an established network and relationships with Vascular Surgeons & Cardiologists. Understanding of the product portfolio is key. 'Stents' and 'Guidewires' are amongst the key products that you will be selling and your understanding and previous sales track record will be key in landing this role.

Reporting to: Sales Manager

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. ENSURE MARKET & PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE:
    Ensure up-to-date knowledge of the market drivers, the competition, market positioning, evolutions within the field, etc.
    Ensure a complete understanding and consideration of customer requirements.
    Meet with marketing to implement the defined appropriate product and technical support.
  2. ACHIEVEMENT SALES & PROFIT TARGETS:
    Manage all sales activities for his/her product group / territory.
    Set together with the Sales Manager, the targets and price levels and follow up the results.
    Assist the Sales Manager in analysing all problems, related to his/her product group / territory, propose and plan corrective actions in order to reach the objectives and targets.
    Assist to obtain the gross profit of the business and the sales development for a product group / territory.
    Market mapping: examine the market conditions and identify trends in order to facilitate the strategy build by the product manager and sales manager.
  3. IMPLEMENT MARKETING & SALES STRATEGY:
    Implement defined strategies and develop tactics in order to improve the sales and profitability of his/her product group / territory together with sales management.
    Assist to search for new sales methods and possibilities.
    Assists in establishing the adequate sales channels and improve the quality of a product group.
    Manage the Key Opinion Leaders portfolio by proactively building and maintaining excellent relations.
    Maintain excellent relation with external official parties, authorities and organisations.
  4. MANAGE CONGRESSES:
    Be present on local conferences, congresses, trade shows to represent the company towards the target market.
  5. TRAIN INTERNAL & EXTERNAL CUSTOMERS:
    Give and set-up training programmes for external and internal customers (search for the needs of a technical training) in collaboration with the Product Manager.
  6. QA/RA PROCEDURES:
    Complaint handling
  7. GENERAL:
    Complete a monthly detailed report to ensure a smooth communication and information stream.
    Act as representative of the company towards many third parties.
    Assume all other responsibilities and authorities this function may require regarding new opportunities.
Requirements

Skills & Experience:

  • Master or Bachelors degree
  • Min 3-5 years of relevant working experience in similar function
  • Practical knowledge of Sales techniques
  • Preferably having network of Vascular Surgeons and Interventional Radiologists / Interventional Cardiologists / Cardiovascular products (depending on the relevant BU)
  • Acquaintance and knowledge of the local market is a considerable asset
  • Be a flexible team player, be able to work independently, prioritize own work and maintain confidentiality of information
  • Have a positive attitude and be pro-active, have excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work under pressure and within short time constraints. Show drive and determination for all tasks.
