Cardiology - Consultant
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Consultant Cardiologist with a specialist interest in Heart Failure to join a dynamic and expanding Cardiology department in the North West region.

You will be part of a well-established and supportive team of five consultant cardiologists, alongside speciality doctors, trainees, advanced nurse practitioners, nurse specialists, and highly trained physiologists. This role offers the opportunity to lead and further develop the heart failure service, contributing to high-quality patient care and service innovation within a forward-thinking environment.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the provision of care for heart failure patients, including outpatient clinics and acute admissions.
  • Work closely with heart failure specialist nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver integrated and patient-focused care.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of service models such as consultant-of-the-week and weekend ward cover.
  • Contribute to inpatient and outpatient catheter laboratory activity, including angiograms and device implantation (as appropriate).
  • Deliver high-quality inpatient care across the Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Cardiology wards, and Cardiac Catheter Suite.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including heart failure and rhythm management MDTs.
  • Provide clinical leadership to junior doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals.
  • Engage in clinical audit, quality improvement, and research to maintain and enhance service delivery.
  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training, and supervision.
  • Take an active role in clinical governance, risk management, and service development.

Person Specification
*Qualifications (Essential) *

  • MBBS or equivalent primary medical qualification.
  • MRCP (UK) or equivalent.
  • Complete GMC registration and licence to practise.

*Experience (Essential) *

  • Clinical training and experience in Heart Failure.
  • Broad knowledge and expertise across cardiology inpatients and outpatients.
  • Evidence of participation in audit and implementation of change.

The role you'll contribute:

The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner functions as a member of the medical care management team for physician practice patients (Cardiology). The ARNP may diagnose medical conditions, plan and implement treatment collaboratively agreed to in the Florida Hospital Physician Group medical staff delineation of clinical privileges for Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners. Depending on the practice, ARNP may be required to take practice call.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

· Provide services similar to those of a physician.

· Examine patients, take medical histories, maintain patient records, identify health risk factors, prescribe medications, make referrals and otherwise treat health conditions.

· Sees patients in the outpatient practice setting.

· Assists with in-office procedures with physician and or may perform minor procedures independently.

· Reads and interprets electrocardiograms.

· Interrogation and adjustment to pacemaker settings in collaboration with Cardiologist.

· Provide post-procedural follow-up care in the outpatient practice setting.

· Interpret, monitor and adjust anticoagulation therapy.

· Supervision of nuclear stress tests and treadmill stress tests in the outpatient practice setting.

· Will diagnose and treat in collaboration with the supervising Cardiologist, adult cardiovascular patients in addition to a variety of chronic health conditions including but not limited to diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia etc.

· Will follow care plans developed by/with supervising Cardiologist.

· Communicates with courtesy when interacting with internal or external patients and customers—in person or on the telephone.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· MSN (Master's of Nursing)

· Minimum of 3 years' experience as a RN in the Cardiology setting

· Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

· Provides direct care with licensing credentials under the auspices of supervising MD.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

· Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

· Licensure as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Florida.

    • Ensure a complete understanding and consideration of customer requirements.
    • Meet with marketing to implement the defined appropriate product and technical support.
  2. ACHIEVEMENT SALES & PROFIT TARGETS:
    • Manage all sales activities for his/her product group / territory.
    • Set together with the Sales Manager, the targets and price levels and follow up the results.
    • Assist the Sales Manager in analysing all problems, related to his/her product group / territory, propose and plan corrective actions in order to reach the objectives and targets.
    • Assist to obtain the gross profit of the business and the sales development for a product group / territory.

PURPOSE: We are looking for an individual who has an established network and relationships with Cardiologists. Understanding of the product portfolio is key. 'Stents' and 'Guidewires' are amongst the key products that you will be selling and your understanding and previous sales track record will be key in landing this role.

Reporting to: Sales Manager

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. ENSURE MARKET & PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE:
    Ensure up-to-date knowledge of the market drivers, the competition, market positioning, evolutions within the field, etc.
    Ensure a complete understanding and consideration of customer requirements.
    Meet with marketing to implement the defined appropriate product and technical support.
  2. ACHIEVEMENT SALES & PROFIT TARGETS:
    Manage all sales activities for his/her product group / territory.
    Set together with the Sales Manager, the targets and price levels and follow up the results.
    Assist the Sales Manager in analysing all problems, related to his/her product group / territory, propose and plan corrective actions in order to reach the objectives and targets.
    Assist to obtain the gross profit of the business and the sales development for a product group / territory.
    Market mapping: examine the market conditions and identify trends in order to facilitate the strategy build by the product manager and sales manager.
  3. IMPLEMENT MARKETING & SALES STRATEGY:
    Implement defined strategies and develop tactics in order to improve the sales and profitability of his/her product group / territory together with sales management.
    Assist to search for new sales methods and possibilities.
    Assists in establishing the adequate sales channels and improve the quality of a product group.
    Manage the Key Opinion Leaders portfolio by proactively building and maintaining excellent relations.
    Maintain excellent relation with external official parties, authorities and organisations.
  4. MANAGE CONGRESSES:
    Be present on local conferences, congresses, trade shows to represent the company towards the target market.
  5. TRAIN INTERNAL & EXTERNAL CUSTOMERS:
    Give and set-up training programmes for external and internal customers (search for the needs of a technical training) in collaboration with the Product Manager.
  6. QA/RA PROCEDURES:
    Complaint handling.
  7. GENERAL:
    Complete a monthly detailed report to ensure a smooth communication and information stream.
    Act as representative of the company towards many third parties.
    Assume all other responsibilities and authorities this function may require regarding new opportunities.
Requirements

Skills & Experience:

  1. Master or Bachelors degree
  2. Min 3-5 years of relevant working experience in similar function
  3. Practical knowledge of Sales techniques
  4. Preferably having network of Vascular Surgeons and Interventional Radiologists / Interventional Cardiologists / Cardiovascular products (depending on the relevant BU)
  5. Acquaintance and knowledge of the local market is a considerable asset
  6. Be a flexible team player, be able to work independently, prioritize own work and maintain confidentiality of information
  7. Have a positive attitude and be pro-active, have excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work under pressure and within short time constraints. Show drive and determination for all tasks.
