That being said, this specific role is for a team member to work in the Machine Learning AI team as a Machine Learning Engineer.
Job DescriptionThe candidate will be working with clients on projects focused on delivering reliable data-powered software applications to production. The primary focus of the role includes designing and implementing data pipelines, building models (machine learning or not), and deploying models.
Melio believes in nurturing cross-functional capabilities in our team, so you will need to work closely with other technical roles, such as BI specialists, data scientists, DevOps engineers and other data and machine learning engineers either to observe or to assist.
This is a technical role, but due to the consulting nature of many of our projects, the candidate needs to be able to communicate effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
The list below is for both machine learning engineer and data engineer, but we are not expecting you to perform as both an ML engineer and a data engineer. The idea is you should be sufficiently comfortable with either role to be aware and able to communicate and learn from your colleagues.
What you will be working on- Fluent with the following languages: Python, Spark, PySpark, SQL.
- Strong analytical skills and passion for solving data problems.
- Strong communications skills and comfortable presenting your own thoughts to technical and business stakeholders.
- Familiar with building training and inference pipelines for ML projects.
- Familiar with fundamental machine learning theory and building, tuning, selecting models.
- Familiar with MLOps principals.
- Some experience with at least one Cloud provider.
- Some experience working with test automation and tools.
- Implement and test data engineering and machine learning software.
- Build and test data engineering and machine learning pipelines for data analytics or machine learning solutions.
- Collaborate and share technical knowledge with team members and co-workers.
- Follow all best practices and procedures as established by the client or industry.
- Document designed solutions and implemented tools.
- Brainstorm new solutions to improve data and ML software development and deployment.
- Basic understanding of the cloud-native ecosystem and desire to learn and grow in this environment.
- Assist with setting up CI (Continuous Integration) and CD (Continuous Delivery) tools with the team.
- Monitor data/model metrics, and develop ways to improve application development and deployment.
- Maintain day-to-day management and administration of projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
- 2+ years experience working with data science and data engineering. Previous experience with software development (e.g. Python, Java, Go).

- Architect and deploy scalable, real-time systems for ingesting, processing, and analysing high-frequency vehicle sensor and telemetry data.
- Develop and maintain robust APIs and automation tools in Python and C# to support internal platforms and customer-facing applications.
- Oversee the creation and deployment of AI models - including computer vision and large language models (LLMs) - to enhance claims automation and document intelligence.
- Champion innovation within the actuarial domain by blending traditional methodologies with modern MLOps, software engineering, and streaming analytics.
- Manage end-to-end machine learning pipelines using tools like MLflow, ensuring reproducibility, governance, and performance monitoring.

- Degree in Actuarial Science, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field (Honours or Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in data science, or data engineering roles, preferably in a telematics-driven insurance environment.
- Proficient in Python and C#, with a solid foundation in object-oriented programming and API development.
- Advanced SQL skills, including data processing, database management, and query optimisation (Essential).
- Practical experience using Git for version control and collaboration(Essential).
- Hands-on experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks such as XGBoost, spaCy, Hugging Face, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
- Proven ability to deploy and monitor models using MLflow and related MLOps tools.
- Experience with large-scale datasets, ideally from IoT or telematics sources.

We are currently seeking a Program Manager, Clinical Data Science to join our diverse and dynamic team. As a Program Manager in Clinical Data Science at ICON, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating data science initiatives within clinical programs. You will lead cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of data-driven projects, from data collection and analysis to the implementation of insights that drive clinical outcomes and operational efficiencies.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Managing the end-to-end execution of clinical data science programs, including planning, resource allocation, and delivery of data science projects within scope, time, and budget constraints.
- Coordinating with data scientists, statisticians, clinical researchers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project objectives, data requirements, and analytical approaches.
- Developing and maintaining program plans, timelines, and budgets, and monitoring progress to ensure timely and successful completion of data science initiatives.
- Providing strategic oversight and guidance on data science methodologies, ensuring that analyses are rigorous, valid, and aligned with clinical and regulatory standards.
- Communicating program status, insights, and outcomes to stakeholders, including executive leadership, and addressing any issues or risks that may impact program success.
Your Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, clinical research, or a related field. Advanced degree and/or relevant certifications are preferred. Extensive experience in program management within the clinical data science or related domain.
- Strong background in data science methodologies, statistical analysis, and clinical research, with a track record of successfully managing complex data-driven projects.
- Exceptional leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with various departments to achieve program objectives.
- Proficiency in project management tools and techniques, with experience in risk management, budgeting, and resource planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights clearly and build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

What will you do?The Data Science Manager: Telemetry Solutions is a future-focused leadership role that bridges actuarial science, data science, machine learning, and engineering. You will lead a multidisciplinary team that leverages telematics and alternative data to deliver intelligent solutions across usage-based insurance (UBI), claims innovation, product development, and dynamic risk assessment.
This role offers a unique opportunity to operate at the intersection of data, strategy, and technology - driving meaningful transformation in how insurance products are developed, risks are understood, and operations are optimised.
Key Responsibilities:- Architect and deploy scalable, real-time systems for ingesting, processing, and analysing high-frequency vehicle sensor and telemetry data.
- Develop and maintain robust APIs and automation tools in Python and C# to support internal platforms and customer-facing applications.
- Oversee the creation and deployment of AI models - including computer vision and large language models (LLMs) - to enhance claims automation and document intelligence.
- Champion innovation within the actuarial domain by blending traditional methodologies with modern MLOps, software engineering, and streaming analytics.
- Manage end-to-end machine learning pipelines using tools like MLflow, ensuring reproducibility, governance, and performance monitoring.
- Collaborate closely with Product, IT, Data Engineering, and Claims teams to embed intelligent analytics into core business processes and customer experiences.
- Mentor and grow a high-performing team of data scientists, and software engineers.
- Provide technical insight and data-driven narratives to support strategic decision-making through dashboards, models, and actuarial reporting.
- Degree in Actuarial Science, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field (Honours or Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in data science, or data engineering roles, preferably in a telematics-driven insurance environment.
- Proficient in Python and C#, with a solid foundation in object-oriented programming and API development.
- Advanced SQL skills, including data processing, database management, and query optimisation (Essential).
- Practical experience using Git for version control and collaboration(Essential).
- Hands-on experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks such as XGBoost, spaCy, Hugging Face, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
