Position Summary
As an AI Engineer , you will be at the forefront of integrating artificial intelligence into The Flex’s systems. You’ll build, deploy, and optimize AI-driven tools and models that support operations, customer experience, automation, and decision-making. This is a high-impact role with the potential to shape the future of tech in the real estate industry.
Key Responsibilities
- AI & ML Development: Build and train machine learning models for use cases like pricing optimization, Property Management Tools.
- LLM Integration: Develop and integrate LLM-powered features (e.g., GPT APIs) into internal tools and customer-facing products.
- Automation: Leverage AI to automate repetitive internal tasks, enhance support, and improve user experience.
- Deployment: Package and deploy models into production using modern MLOps tools and cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS).
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, product managers, and operations teams to identify and implement impactful AI opportunities.
- Documentation & Maintenance: Ensure reproducibility, versioning, and continuous improvement of all AI models and pipelines.

A recent report issued by theWWF states that there has been a catastrophic decline in wildlife population in recent years. A large number of species are threatened with extinction due to a number of factors. Further conservation efforts are still urgently required to ensure the survival of the remaining individuals.
Fellowship OpportunityTheAfrican Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) andStellenbosch University are looking to appoint a post-doctoral fellow to work in the area of deep learning and bioacoustics. The fellow will work as part of a collaborative team of local and international researchers to address important conservation issues.
This fellowship aims at investigating deep learning models for passive acoustic monitoring of animal species. The data will primarily be acoustic data, however additional sources may be used to supplement the investigation. The fellow will research state-of-the-art techniques in deep learning and mathematics to address critical conservation problems. The fellow will develop software code for audio processing, and suitable deep neural networks, typically in TensorFlow or other libraries. Research outputs will be submitted to Q1 ranked international journals.
The fellow will work closely withDr. Emmanuel Dufourq and theMachine Learning for Ecology Research Group . The fellow will work at AIMS South Africa which is located in the beautiful city of Muizenberg, Cape Town, South Africa. AIMS is located just a few meters from Muizenberg beach! The fellow will also have the opportunity to travel to Rwanda and contribute to AIMS Rwanda.
Core Responsibilities- Participate fully in the project including research design, literature review, software and model implementation, data analysis, data annotation, writing manuscripts, and giving academic talks.
- Maintain research code in a GitHub repository and use current programming practices.
- Actively participate in research meetings and take initiative to grow the group’s collaborative network.
- Co-supervise students in the area of deep learning for wildlife monitoring.
- Assist the research group in research and academic tasks.
- 40 hours of research work per week.
- Ph.D. in a relevant mathematical science (e.g. computer science, mathematics, …).
- Strong experience in deep learning (TensorFlow, PyTorch,…) and Python programming.
- Clear evidence of completed deep learning projects in computer vision or audio tasks.
- Good mathematical and problem solving skills as the candidate will actively engage in this.
- A strong desire to apply machine learning to bioacoustics problems.
- Proven ability to publish in reputable peer-reviewed journals (Q1 or Q2 ranked, check ranking here).
- Strong communication skills (English written, oral, and presentation).

A leading tech-driven organisation is seeking a Generative AI/Data Science specialist to join their innovation lab. This role involves deep AI model development and strong data engineering fundamentals. You’ll focus on building and refining LLM-powered solutions , emphasizing RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) frameworks using tools like LangChain and LlamaIndex .
You will partner with data engineers to ensure clean, scalable data pipelines , work on ETL processes and dimensional models, and deploy AI models into live environments with performance and scalability in mind. Additionally, you’ll experiment with new GenAI techniques, support MLOps efforts, and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Skills & Experience:
- 3+ years’ experience in AI/ML, with at least 1–2 years specifically in Generative AI
- Proficiency with Python , SQL , and libraries like Pandas and NumPy
- Practical experience with LangChain , LlamaIndex , or other LLM ecosystems
- Strong background in ETL , data engineering , and dimensional modelling
- Experience working across cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Familiarity with Docker , Kubernetes , and model deployment best practices
- Exposure to vector databases , Spark , or Hadoop is advantageous
- Confident communicator who can translate complex AI concepts into actionable insights
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or related fields
- Preferred certifications (not required but advantageous):
- AWS Certified Machine Learning / AI Practitioner
- GCP Professional ML Engineer / Associate Cloud Engineer
- Microsoft Azure AI Engineer / Data Scientist
