We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant  to join our Administration & Accounts Department. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring financial excellence while supporting our mission to deliver quality, affordable education  to learners nationwide.

 Key Requirements:

  • Relevant accounting qualification  and/or proven experience

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office

  • Ability to work independently and  collaboratively in a team environment

 Core Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records and reports

  • Assist with budgeting and financial planning

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Prepare accurate, comprehensive, and timely management accounts, budgets/forecasts, and annual financial statements.
  2. Ensure compliance with internal processes and controls, as well as accounting standards, statutory audits, and good codes of practice.
  3. Ensure tax compliance and liaise with the tax authority on any related matters.
  4. Provide assistance and advice on administrative, accounting, tax, computer systems, and procedures to management and staff.
  5. Monitor cash, debtors, and investment performance on an ongoing basis and provide advice and take corrective action where necessary.
  6. Manage the Finance Department (10 staff) in terms of its human resources, including performance management, training, and development.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  1. Registered Chartered Accountant with a minimum of 7 years of experience, of which 3 need to have been in a commercial environment at a managerial level.
  2. Previous experience dealing with multiple operating locations in South Africa and, ideally, experience in other jurisdictions such as Mozambique, Namibia, or Ghana.
  3. Ability to understand and practically apply financial principles/guidelines, and be up to date with the latest IAS and IFRS developments.
  4. Ability to work under pressure and independently within a larger team, demonstrating proactiveness and assertiveness.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Strong negotiation, strategic thinking, and analytical skills.
  7. Ability to manage internal stakeholder requirements and expectations.
  8. Ability to make decisions, initiate action, and deliver results to meet client expectations.
