The role:
The Mining Activity Engineer reports to the Section Manager Planning.

Experience:
- Minimum 6 years’ mining experience with 2 years appointed in a relevant mining production environment appointed as a supervisor OR 2 years relevant experience as Planning Officer
- Experience with Mine Planning software including, but not limited to, 3D-dig, Microstation, Dragsim, Deswik
- Experience in assessing management principles around mining and related equipment and associated operational standards and philosophies
- Experience in relevant opencast mining areas (mine pit design, activity design (drill & blast, pre-stripping, dragline, truck & shovel, coaling), scheduling, machine performance)
- An appreciation of legislation relating to the mining industry, as well as applicable procedures
- Ability to work under pressure and variable workload

Cowlairs CDU provides a full decontamination/sterilisation service to Theatres, Clinics and Community services within the Glasgow area of the Health Board. The unit reprocess, on average, 12 million reusable instruments per year.
It will be a requirement of all post-holders to become multi-skilled in all zones of the CDU in order to satisfy all the requirements of the post. Once fully trained in all the zones of the CDU, staff will be rostered in such a way as to rotate through the various zones on a regular basis.
The core activity of a decontamination unit is the decontamination, assembly, packaging and sterilisation of re-useable medical devices. The post holder will undertake all tasks appropriate to the grade of ATO Support Worker throughout all zones of the CDU and will be trained in all specialities to become an Assistant Technical Officer (ATO).
Decontamination of medical devices and instrument knowledge is essential as well as a good general education including literacy and numeracy skills together with manual dexterity desirable.
Training will be provided in Decontamination/ Assembly/ Checking/ Packaging and Sterilisation however knowledge of Decontamination is advantageous.
This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).

The role:
The role is responsible for providing assistance to Section Engineers in electrical governance and compliance with all electrical reticulations and equipment at the operation.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Establish and maintain safe work practices and a safe working environment by ensuring that legal requirements and group working standards and policies related to Electrical Engineering are developed, communicated and implemented on the operations and projects
- Ensure that the operation’s electrical Code of Practice (COP) is developed and updated, and comply with Seriti requirements.

- Check, communicate and ensure electrical legal compliance.
- Perform oversight inspections and audits on electrical equipment to ensure compliance and ensure proper maintenance are completed.

- Enforce mandatory electrical standards and procedures and check compliance.
- Ensure that isolation and lockout procedures are in place and up-to-date, and complied to.
- Establish and execute a standardized process for addressing compliance issues at operations by making available all the required documentation for the section engineers to be able to make informed decisions
- Confirm all reticulation modifications and/or changes for discrimination and load flow results.
- Custodian of the protection setting and approve any changes made to relay trip settings.
- Conduct compliance audits in line with legislation, standards and best practices when required and identify possible equipment failures and identify root causes
- Provide technical advice and input to the operations and new projects with regards to Electrical Engineering
- Keep abreast of new technologies and developments in Electrical Engineering
- Effective project management of Electrical Engineering projects and Asset Optimisation initiatives ensuring best practice research and knowledge sharing
- Financial Budgeting & Management
- Actively participate in the Seriti Electrical User Group and Energy Management and Efficiency forums
Requirements:
- Electrical Engineering Degree or National Diploma or Electrical National N4 certificate
- Recognized Electrical Trade Test certificate
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as Engineering Foreman/General Engineering Supervisor (2.9.2. appointee)
- Extensive technical experience in Low Voltage, Medium Voltage and High Voltage equipment and infrastructure
- In depth electrical experience and concepts
- Safety & Risk Management courses
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mine Health and Safety Act
