Hotazel Manganese Mines (HMM) is made up of two Manganese mines Mamatwan and Wessels. Both operations are located in the Kalahari Basin, home to 80 per cent of the world’s manganese reserves.

As a Specialist Technology and Analysis and Improvement (Security), you will be responsible for developing, deploying and continuously improving the introduction, application, and maintenance strategies for the Security technology and systems sub-function in support of security operations at HMM.

ABOUT YOU:
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Must have a minimum of 5 Years substantiated experience in the security technology field.
- Security systems experience with specialist knowledge of general security operations and application of technology, of which at least 2 years in the Mining Environment.
Qualifications for this role are:
- Grade 12
- Must be in possession of at least a 3-year tertiary qualification (NQF6) related to Security and/or IT Management or Equivalent qualification. National Diploma or an Advanced Certificate.

About our company IntroductionThis role is mainly responsible for safeguarding the assets of the company and ensuring sound financial controls around the acquisitions and disposals of the assets. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Participate in the development and implementation of long, medium and short-term strategic plans for the finance department.
- Coordinate and consolidate the Fixed Assets (Capital expenditure) budget for the organisation.
- Prepare the budget Vs actual reports monthly for discussion with the HoDs.
- Obtain variance explanations from the HoDs on a monthly basis.
- All monthly reports must be submitted by the 8th of each month.
- Coordinate the acquisition of the assets through the Assets and Liabilities Committee or as per the Board approved DOA.
- Maintain the fixed asset register on a monthly basis as per IFRS.
- Evaluate assets acquisitions using the developed Fixed Asset Case study Evaluation.

- Record fixed assets by creating a system of procedures, forms, and controls.
- Recommend any updates to accounting policies affecting fixed assets to management.

- Perform depreciation calculation for all fixed assets.
- Ensure that wear and tear calculations for tax purposes are maintained.
- Assist in the confirmation of deferred tax balances associated with fixed asset accounting.
- Perform revision and update on the detailed schedule of accumulated depreciation and fixed assets.
- Perform asset retirement obligation (ARO) calculations for ARO applicable assets.
- Find out fixed assets’ obsolescence potential.
- Carry out periodic reviews on intangible assets’ impairment.
- Carry out periodic inventory counts of fixed assets physically.
- Recommend fixed assets that should be disposed of to management.
- As may be requested by management, perform fixed asset related analyses.
- Create fixed asset related audit schedules and collaborate with auditors on their assignments.
- Serve as company representative at any audits relating to fixed assets.
- Track Company’s fixed asset spending in relation to its capital budget, as well as management authorizations.

Job Description
- Promote and assure adherence to safety, health, and environmental procedures.
- Identify unsafe and hazardous situations.
- Diagnose incidents and accidents by completing root cause analyses and take corrective action.
- Stop work in unsafe areas.
- Implement compliance requirements.
- Communicate compliance changes.
Planning, Leading and Controlling
- Support and participate in sub-functional change management to drive transformation and optimisation.
- Identify and recommend initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, improving productivity, and reducing operating costs within scope.
- Manage operations and activities of the engineering function within area of control.
- Obtain, check and refine information. Collate and submit reports.
- Run data exception reports and take corrective action.
Asset Care & Maintenance
- Monitor maintenance and repairs.
- Provide support and assistance to the department.
- Monitor maintenance, installations, and repair of electrical equipment and power supply units and lines on planned maintenance and breakdown work orders.
- Identify recurring problems and derive creative solutions involving team members or using own vocational knowledge and experience.
- Initiate and conduct root cause analysis in line with procedure to extend mean time between failures.
- Produce procedures and processes as remedial action/outcome and implement in own area and recommend changes to the planned maintenance system.
Cost Planning and Management
- Assist with compilation of maintenance budget and submit for approval.
- Identify and develop cost-effective processes to increase efficiency and reduce cost drivers.
- Continuously review cost vs. benefit and report recommendations.
- Conduct root cause analysis of machinery failures and regular high-cost replacements to address asset performance problems and/or reduce costs.
- Identify cost savings initiatives and implement where possible while still meeting department objectives.
People Management
- Supervise and plan subordinate activities to ensure effective task execution and departmental operations.
- Supervise subordinates' key performance areas by setting and monitoring performance standards and taking actions to correct deviations to achieve the section's objectives.
- Manage training of subordinates against development plans and performance contracts.
- Perform fair and reasonable tasks related to the job and working environment, at the discretion of the Manager or direct supervisor.
- Monitor the execution of asset care activities.
- Ensure operational plan is implemented.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Grade 12 certificate or relevant national NQF level qualification.
Experience:
- 5 Years’ Experience in a Maintenance Environment in Mining.
- 2 Years Supervisory experience in a Maintenance Environment in Mining.
Technical Experience:
- Supervising maintenance employees in a mining environment.
- Planning and Evaluation Skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
