Position: Content Writer & Marketing Assistant
Type: Full-Time Contractor (40 hrs/week) OR Freelance option available
Location: South Africa only (Remote)
Work Hours: 8 AM - 5 PM ET (US Eastern Time), Monday-Friday (with 1-hour break)
Compensation: $1500-$2000 USD per month (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Independent Contractor
Important: Candidates must submit writing samples of blogs or newsletters they've written to be considered. An assessment before interviews will be required: write an edition of Lean Leverage addressed to our tech company readers. Applications without writing samples will not be reviewed.
What You'll DoYou'll play a central role in scaling and optimizing our content engine, including:
- Content Creation
- Research, draft, and refine 30+ blog articles per month (with support from AI tools like ChatGPT & Surfer SEO).
- Write and edit 1-2 editions of our flagship Lean Leverage newsletter.
- Produce additional content: website articles, brand one-pagers, LinkedIn posts, etc.
SEO & Data-Driven Ideation
- Use keyword research and SEO tools (Google Search Console, Surfer SEO, etc.) to guide content ideas.
- Track performance metrics and suggest improvements.
Marketing Support
- Summarize newsletter performance stats (open rates, CTR, etc.).
- Assist with Facebook ads (copy, creatives, setup).
- Support campaigns with reporting, CMS updates, and task management tools (Notion/Trello/Google Sheets).
Required:
- Based in South Africa & able to work US Eastern Time hours.
- Strong writing skills in English, with B2B content experience.
- Confident using AI writing tools (ChatGPT, Surfer SEO).
- Knowledge of SEO and keyword research.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven.
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with CMS platforms, Notion, Trello, or Airtable.
- Basic design skills (Canva).
- Experience with Meta Ads Manager (training can be provided).
