About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Technical Specialist – Windows Environment to join their Enterprise Infrastructure Services team. This role is crucial for administering, developing, and maintaining Microsoft-based enterprise ICT systems, platforms, and Active Directory services in a large-scale academic environment.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Windows Server environments, cloud computing, virtualisation, and network infrastructure services, ensuring optimal system performance, security, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement, configure, maintain, and support Windows-based infrastructure and computing platforms.
- Administer Windows Server & Active Directory (2016/2019), including Group Policy Object (GPO) management.
- Ensure Active Directory forest upgrades and compliance.
- Automate tasks and enhance disaster recovery strategies using PowerShell scripting.
- Deploy and optimise systems on virtualised platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V.
- Manage network services including DNS, DHCP, and networking protocols.
- Deploy and administer IAAS/PAAS/SAAS cloud environments (Azure, AWS).
- Implement security standards and compliance based on CIS benchmarks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance ICT infrastructure services.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Requirements
- A relevant NQF Level 5qualification (Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field).
- 9 years experience in enterprise ICT applications and infrastructure, with at least 7years hands-on experience in Microsoft environments.
- Strong expertise in Windows Server & Active Directory administration.
- Experience in virtualised infrastructure (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
- Proficiency in automation, scripting (PowerShell), and system patching (SCCM, SCOM).
- Solid understanding of Single Sign-On (SSO) federated technologies (ADFS, Azure AD, SimpleSamlPHP).
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
