Yanacocha Water Treatment Plant (WTP):Located 800 km northeast of Lima, Peru, Yanacocha is South America's largest gold mine. The WTP Project consists of two of the largest acid water treatment plants in South America (the West one with capacity of 3,000 m3/hour and the East one with 2,700 m3/hour). Early works are currently being performed on site, preparing the permanent platforms and laydown areas for the East and West plants, in addition to the Class 2 estimate, Level 3 schedule and Execution Plan.
Job Summary:In this role, you will support the Lead Field Welding Engineer in implementing and maintain the site tank welding program. Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must be able to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e., harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
Major Responsibilities:- Providing technical assistance to field superintendents/ weld technicians and craft.
- Helping, overseeing and maintaining Project Field Welding program.
- Providing specialized welding engineering support to ensure construction meets all code and site requirements.
- Supporting welder testing on-site and help ensure high quality welders are being tested.
- Helping coordinate and support the project NDE program.
- Supporting the crafts involved with tank construction in meeting quality requirements in order to maintain cost and schedule.
- Verifying materials, workmanship, and specification/code requirements.
- Interfacing with the tank welding manager for direction of work task assigned.
- Performing oversight of inspections and documentation of all subcontractor NDE work in progress on a continuing basis.
- Reviewing the results of subcontracted NDE work and judge the acceptability of welds to tank welding codes and procedures.
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:- Knowledge in ASME, API, AWS, and other applicable industry standards.
- WITS and TEAMworks database experience (desirable).
- Intermediate English level.

We are seeking an experienced
Senior Welding Engineer
with a strong background in the manufacturing of
pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and heavy fabrication equipment
within the Oil & Gas sector. The successful candidate will oversee all welding activities, ensure compliance with international codes and standards, and provide technical support to maintain the highest levels of safety, quality, and efficiency in fabrication processes.
This role requires hands-on expertise in welding processes, in-depth knowledge of applicable codes, and the ability to lead, mentor, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across fabrication operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ) in compliance with ASME, AWS, and international standards.
- Supervise and monitor welding operations during fabrication of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers, and related equipment.
- Provide technical expertise on welding metallurgy, materials selection, repair procedures, and weldability challenges.
- Ensure strict adherence to client specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Liaise with QA/QC teams on inspections, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), and welding-related audits.
- Drive continuous improvement through the implementation of advanced welding techniques, automation, and cost-effective solutions.
- Conduct failure investigations and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Mentor welders and junior engineers, providing training on welding standards, techniques, and best practices.
- Support project engineering teams with welding-related input during design, fabrication, and commissioning phases.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Welding Engineering (Master's preferred).
- Minimum 8–12 years' experience in welding engineering within heavy fabrication (pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers, or similar equipment).
- Strong knowledge of ASME Section VIII, Section IX, API, and AWS codes/standards.
- Practical expertise in SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW, and other major welding processes.
- Familiarity with NDT techniques (RT, UT, PT, MT) and quality assurance requirements.
- Recognized certifications preferred: CSWIP 3.1/3.2, AWS-CWI, or International Welding Engineer (IWE).
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex welding issues and implement effective solutions.

Qualification(s) Minimum:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience:
- 5 Years relevant hands-on metal repair work maintenance related experience in chemical or Manufacturing plant environment
- Should have experience with different inspection methods for welds such as visual, magnetic particle inspection, ultrasonic inspection, x-ray inspection etc.
- Experience in the structural fabrication environment including tanks and pipe works
- Experience with planning, cost estimation and budgeting exposure
- Competent in using Microsoft office (Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, Power point, Outlook).
