Job Description
Key Tasks:
To perform defined operator functions in the Sample Treatment Centre of the Indicator Mineral Laboratory and to adhere to all ECOHS procedures.
Treat Samples
Produce heavy (indicator) mineral sample concentrates by treating samples per procedure and generating process data by:
Following Diamond Control protocols when treating samples
- Entering data using the sample tracking system (LIMS)
- Reporting faults/non-conformances and initiating corrective actions or refers problems if required
- Recording treatment data (treatment records; decontamination records, tromp curves, LIMS data etc.)
- Performing tracer tests as required and reporting deviations in expected performance
Performing plant de-contamination as required
Display proficiency in the following plant processes:
Crushing, wet- and dry-screening
- Dense Media Separation
- Electrostatic separation
- Magnetic separation
- Heavy liquid separation
Aliquoting
Recognize and report deviations and non-conformances.
Optimize Equipment Availability
Perform pre-start checks according to the relevant checklist
- Perform routine maintenance according to schedule or as required
- Adhere to appropriate lock-out procedures
- Undertake troubleshooting and refer problems if required to Project Metallurgist and/or Maintenance team
Undertake equipment shutdown according to procedure

Qualifications

Experience
- Previous working experience in a laboratory environment, similar diamond/heavy mineral recovery process or field exploration activities would be advantageous

Understand and conduct short, medium and long-term water quality risk assessments on raw water sources and determining the suitability of the drinking water supply system infrastructure (treatment plants and distribution networks) to continuously produce safe and acceptable quality drinking water.
Verifying capability of drinking water supply system infrastructure to produce safe and acceptable drinking water supplies, including:
