Our team of experts is looking for a passionate and driven Inventory Controller to join the Absolute Pets team at our Cape Town Warehouse in Marconi Beam for a maternity cover contract.
If you want to join our team, here are some key responsibilities:
- Conduct daily stock counts and investigate variances. Plan, organise, lead, and control warehouse inventory processes and the warehouse team to ensure high stock accuracy and process adherence.
- Perform daily checks and clean-up of all locations in Ador that hold stock during warehouse processes. Provide detailed reports to management highlighting any risks and potential financial losses.
- Maintain constant communication regarding system misalignments between Ador and IQ. Highlight and communicate discrepancies to the warehouse manager and IQ support.
- Ensure damages are reported daily and investigate root causes. Address root causes of damages with the warehouse manager and team.
- Minimize and report obsolete/redundant stock to maximise working capital.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
- Manage control measures to highlight, address, and resolve errors and discrepancies.
- Achieve 95% bin accuracy through weekly verifications and reporting to management.
- Manage weekly cyclical stock counts, investigate variances, and provide accurate reports for review.
- Prepare the warehouse for semi-annual stock counts.
- Ensure reporting deadlines are met daily with regular updates and handovers as agreed with the warehouse manager.
- Conduct root cause analysis on variances and provide clear reports to validate discrepancies.
- Manage bin locations and ensure timely stock replenishment.
- Implement FIFO rotation to prevent stock expiries.
- Report short or dated stock monthly.
- Manage inbound stock processes, ensuring accurate receipt and documentation.
- Ensure goods received vouchers, invoices, and credit notes are submitted, filed, and maintained.
- Follow up on outstanding documents with Finance and Commercial Departments.
- Verify that receipted stock has been accurately captured.
- Update the stock receiving register daily.
- Ensure incoming goods are GRV’d and put away within 24 hours.

Requirements
- Matric certificate required.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Warehousing Operations strongly recommended.
- 3–5 years’ experience in warehouse, inventory, or stock control roles.
- Familiarity with stock management systems, such as Granite WMS, Sage 300, and Accpac.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory management systems.
- Knowledge of stock management best practices and products kept in stock.
- Ability to liaise effectively with customers and work collaboratively in a team.

The purpose of this position is to provide assistance of the overall day to day stock control administrative processes in the New Market Cold Store (NMCS).
Qualifications- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
- A tertiary qualification in stock management, logistics, warehousing or supply chain will be a great advantage
