Requirements
  • Matric Grade 12
  • General Nursing Degree / Diploma
  • Registration with SANC
  • Diploma in specialty if applicable
  • Relevant experience and technical skill to meet the critical outputs
  • Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage
  • Computer proficiency would be an advantage
  • Nursing Experience in Medical Wards
  • Driver’s license and ability to travel

We are searching for a Registered Nurse who will render and promote cost effective, safe quality patient care in accordance with hospital or doctor's practice standards and policies. The team member will further be responsible for assessing, planning, executing and supervising the implementation of care to meet patient needs.

Requirements

Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification.

Diploma in General Nursing.

Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).

Minimum of 5 years as an experience as a Registered Nurse.

Post-operative And Surgical Experience Is Essential.

Must have recent clinical experience.

Experience within a private hospital environment is advantageous.

Skilled in all basic nursing procedures as well as procedures specific to the operating theatre environment

Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and patient safety

Extensive knowledge of modern nursing care principles and practices in the post-surgical environment.

Job Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse

This Private Hospital in Johannesburg has a vacancy for a Registered Nurse in the Medical Ward.

The Registered Nurse will render and promote cost-effective, safe quality patient care in accordance with hospital standards and policies and will further be responsible for:

  • Direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or a group of patients, for assessing, planning, executing and supervising the implementation of care to meet patient needs.
Duties & Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Key work output and accountabilities:

  • Practice patient care according to the Scope of Practice and assume total responsibility for these activities.
  • Contribute to the holistic care of patients.
  • Attend handover of report at shift commencement.
  • Recognize life-threatening situations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care.
  • Promote the patient’s health and wellbeing.
  • Give a detailed handover to the ward’s sister.
  • Audit health records to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure all stock is well controlled and managed, charged and credited appropriately.
  • Promote and maintain good public relations with patients, relatives, and visitors.
Desired Experience & Qualification

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED INCLUDE:

  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council.
  • Registered Nurse or Equivalent NQF7 qualification.
  • Matric qualification.
  • Experience in Medical ward.
  • Compulsory BLS.
  • Advanced computer literacy.
  • Capacity of health practice required from all accredited bodies and appropriate health legislation.
