Job Description

Although our production and financial results are the engine that drives our business, it is the depth of capability in our people that will continue to determine First Quantum’s ongoing success. Reporting to the Regional IT Manager – EMEA of our IT division, this role will form an integral part of our Regional IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing our enterprise network infrastructure with a focus on Cisco technologies. You will ensure network reliability, performance and security to support business operations. The role will demand a high level of technical expertise in network hardware, software and protocols. The incumbent will work within a team of other technical and support staff and may be required to interact with external vendors and customers as well as internal stakeholders such as project managers and IT teams.

Key Responsibilities:

The Network Engineer’s general accountabilities include, but are not limited to, the below:

Install, configure and maintain Cisco network devices, including routers, switches and wireless controllers.

Provide Tier 2/Tier 3 support for network-related issues, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests.

Monitor network performance and troubleshoot latency, bottlenecks and other network issues.

Manage and support Cisco technologies such as Cisco ASA, Meraki, Nexus and Catalyst platforms.

Perform routine network maintenance and upgrades, including firmware updates and patches.

Document network configurations, procedures, and policies.

Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams on projects and system integrations.

Support and troubleshoot network issues and coordinate with vendors.

Maintain detailed technical documentation.

Provide recommendations on improvements to network performance.

Manage vendor/stakeholder relationships and SLAs relating to network services.

Support other teams during new provisioning, ongoing maintenance windows, development work, with IP networking / sysadmin expertise.

Plan for future growth by implementing scalable solutions.

Qualifications:

Experience with SDWAN technology

    Job Description

    Responsibilities

    • Day to day Operational administration of network infrastructure, this includes but not limited to.
    • Routers, Switches and Wireless infrastructure
    • Network and patch rooms and areas (All Clover sites)
    • Internet Access
    • Wide Area Network (WAN) infrastructure and services
    • Local Area Networks (LAN) Infrastructure and services
    • DMZ, Firewall, VPN, APN and Proxy infrastructure and services
    • Fixed infrastructure (Fibre and Ethernet cabling)
    • Ensure system performance and service level agreements (SLA) are achieved.
    • Effective monitoring of related infrastructure (Network Operations Centre (NOC))
    • Work with third party service providers to ensure efficient operations.
    • Work with Impala BIIS team for successful operation and integration of network infrastructure
    • Dealing with users and network related calls daily.
    • Effective documentation of areas of responsibility.
    • Standard operating procedures (SOP) creation and maintenance
    • Creation and maintenance of Architectural drawing for all OT installations.
    • Creation and maintenance of Logical drawings for all OT related installations within
    • area of responsibility will be limited to the OT environment and ICT integration.
    • Project management within area or responsibility (small network projects and additions)

    Experience

    • CompTIA A+ N+
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
    • 5 years in an operational role with a strong background on Cisco administration and
    • equipment
    • 5 years network infrastructure experience
    • 5 years network operations management
    • 5 years vendor management
    • 5 years understanding of Firewall integration into network services
    • In depth knowledge of L2 and L3 routing as well as routing protocols with emphasis on OSPF
