- Game Design (GADS6221)
Job Purpose:
Lecture based on provided content, ensure students are guided and supported in their learning. Mark student submissions and engage with campus teaching and learning.
Key Performance Areas:
Prepare for lectures based on provided content. Supplement content with own expertise. Deliver assigned modules to the stated outcomes and contracted hours. Mark student assessments and provide constructive feedback. Support student academic success by implementing workshops where needed. Perform academic admin, such as capturing assessment marks and reporting on student success. Provide content feedback. Engage with professional development opportunities and attend initial training sessions.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Ideal: Honours Degree / Masters in a design field, such as BCIS Multimedia, Bachelor of Film Arts (Game Design) or Digital Arts with relevant work experience in the Game Design industry.
- Alternatively: Honours degree in Digital Design, Media, Graphic Design, Multimedia, or a related field with creative development or programming experience relevant to second-year level game design.
Minimum Work Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of industry experience in game design or related creative fields.
Proven ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and platforms (mobile and desktop).
Strong portfolio demonstrating engagement with the full game design process, including conceptualisation, prototyping, iteration, and final execution.o
Preferred Skills:
- Expertise in Design Thinking and Creative Strategy for problem-solving and critical engagement.
- Experience designing for various genres and platforms (mobile, PC, etc.).
- Familiarity with tools such as Unity, Unreal, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or other relevant design software.
- Ability to mentor students in both theoretical and practical aspects of game

About the roleWe are looking for a Graphic Game Designer to work closely with our Game Producer on the gamification track of our EdTech platform (Cognitive Development).
Important: This is not about building complex or heavy games. The focus is on expanding our portfolio of simple, highly engaging mini-games, quizzes, brain-training challenges, and test-like interactions.
Your main responsibility will be to design and produce these games together with the Game Producer. While the Producer defines the mechanics (rules, flow, retention loops), you will translate them into playable, smooth, and visually delightful mini-games using Framer Motion and other tools.
Success will be measured not only by the visual quality of your work, but by its impact on retention, how well the games keep users engaged and coming back.
Key Responsibilities- Game Portfolio Expansion: Design and produce a high volume of simple but engaging mini-games in collaboration with the Game Producer.
- Game Layouts: Create clean, intuitive layouts for games with a focus on simplicity and user engagement.
- Motion & Animation: Build smooth transitions, micro-interactions, and game flows using Framer Motion.
- Graphic Design: Deliver polished visuals, icons, and assets for brain-training mini-games.
- AI Tools: Use AI design tools to accelerate production while maintaining quality.
- Consistency & Quality: Ensure all games meet a high visual and usability standard.
- Collaboration: Work directly with the Game Producer, turn game mechanics into playable, visually polished experiences.
