  • Expertise in large-scale project delivery and client relationship management.
  • Strong understanding of safety standards, building codes, and regulatory compliance.

The Field Senior Vice President (SVP) – Africa West will be a key member of the International Field Leadership Team, reporting directly to the GSVP – Africa, India, ME. The SVP – Africa West will be instrumental in Young Life's continued growth and opportunity for global impact. He/she will be responsible for developing and executing the geography's mission strategy and will be responsible to develop and lead the mission field staff and volunteer movement. More broadly, he/she will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders.

Leadership and Strategy

  • Develop and lead strategic initiatives to advance the Mission and oversee and implement plans in collaboration with the GSVP and other senior leaders (i.e. MLT, SVPs, VPs etc.).
  • Ensure annual strategic plan is in place to grow Young Life in the division to include camping and all stage of life and focus ministries.
  • Provide vision and direction, strategic planning, staff engagement and overall leadership for reaching all adolescents in the division to include the design and execution of recruitment, retention and staff development initiatives that advance diversity, equity and belonging.
  • Develop a staffing plan to support the strategy and implement that plan to identify and develop the right talent that will lead the work for the geography into the future.
  • Identify key partnerships building long term relationships for the work and strategy setting for Africa.
  • Ensure leaders begin and sustain healthy Young Life areas where appropriate in their respective areas.
  • Supervise, develop and evaluate divisional staff, providing resources and experiences needed to implement the vision of the Mission.
  • Collaborate with key functions (i.e. Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Learning & Leadership Development, etc.).

  • Identify, frame and execute key goals at a divisional level. Build a healthy culture, steeped in spiritual disciplines, diversity, equity, belonging, truth, transparency, curiosity and innovation.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of measurable plans for the health, nurture and encouragement of staff, volunteer leaders, committee members and donors in each region.
  • Visit regions including routine and emergency crisis visits.
  • Observe and evaluate regions to ensure Young Life ministry to include camping is carried out with excellence.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate and professional communication.
  • Serve on the Senior Leadership Council, and the International Field Leadership Team.
  • Attend Global Leadership Conference and other meetings as requested.

Fundraising

  • Oversee the financial health of the Division to include each region and help meet the financial needs of the overall mission of Young Life.
  • Ensure finances are managed with stewardship, equity, accountability and transparency.
  • Lead the division's fundraising strategy, ensuring excellence in communication to donors.
  • In coordination with the GSVP, raise the necessary funds to carry out the divisional ministry vision.
  • Identify and cultivate national, divisional, and/or global donors.
  • Work with Development team to identify and cultivate potential donors for mission-wide efforts and camp capital campaigns, especially in AME and international field.

The
VP: Group Security
is accountable for providing strategic leadership, direction, and oversight of Massmart's Group Security function by ensuring the development and execution of enterprise-wide security strategy aligned with Walmart Global Security priorities and Massmart business objectives. The role is also expected to oversee security risk identification, mitigation, disaster resilience, and crisis management across Massmart, while embedding governance, compliance, and integrity standards

Responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning

  • Develop and lead the Group Security strategy in alignment with Walmart Global Security priorities and Massmart business objectives.
  • Translate global security standards into actionable regional strategies across Massmart.
  • Define long-term security plans, risk frameworks, and governance standards for Massmart operations.
  • Anticipate emerging threats and industry trends, embedding mitigation strategies into enterprise strategy and operational planning.

Security Risk and Compliance

  • Identify and assess security-related risks (e.g., physical security, insider threats, crisis and disaster response) and feed into ERM governance processes.
  • Implement security policies, procedures, and controls in compliance with local laws, regulations, and Walmart Global Security standards.
  • Collaborate with the ERM team to ensure security risk assessments are integrated into enterprise risk registers and reporting.
  • Provide expert advice on risk mitigation specific to security, safety, and crisis domains.
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance to ensure regulatory adherence and alignment with Massmart governance requirements.

Operational Leadership

  • Provide overall direction by analyzing business objectives and operational needs, developing and implementing security operations, plans, and practices.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration across banners to address risks, optimize security operations, and improve outcomes.
  • Oversee subject matter experts in specialized areas (e.g., threat management, physical security, insider risk programs).
  • Implement global governance standards for incident response, disaster recovery, and security programs across Massmart facilities.

Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships

  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with Walmart Global Security, law enforcement agencies, regulators, and local authorities.
  • Provide leadership and strategic input to Massmart EXCO and governance committees on risk, security, and disaster management.
  • Lead external stakeholder engagements, community outreach, and industry collaboration initiatives to strengthen Massmart's security reputation.

Financial, Reporting, and Risk Governance

  • Oversee the Group Security budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources in line with Massmart's EDLC principles.
  • Deliver accurate financial forecasts, cost analyses, and business cases to support investment in security initiatives.
  • Provide regular reports to the VP: International Security and governance forums on risk exposure, mitigation plans, incident trends, and compliance status.
  • Monitor and report on return on investment (ROI) and effectiveness of security programs.

Culture, Integrity, and Ethics

  • Embed a culture of integrity, ethics, and compliance across the security function.
  • Ensure adherence to the Open Door Policy, creating safe channels for associates to raise security concerns.
  • Model servant leadership values, humility, and resilience, promoting trust, inclusion, and belonging across the organisation.

People Management

  • Enable a culture of accountability, agility, high performance, collaboration, customer focus and results orientation within and across teams and business
  • Ensure the sourcing, development, cohesion, motivation and retention of a high-performance team.
  • Implement People processes and procedures to regulate workplace conflict and/or institute corrective measures and consultation processes to address deviations from standards and ensure that performance goals are met.
  • Ensure that Group Security strategic goals are correctly cascaded to the team, both collectively and individually.
  • Ensure talent is appropriately identified by selecting and maintaining qualified direct reports, providing strong input on associate talent throughout the organization, and maintaining recruitment and retention efforts aligned with business objectives.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Honours / Post Graduate degree in Security Management/ Risk Management/ Emergency Management/ Legal-related qualification.
  • Master's Degree advantageous.
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP – ASIS) or Certified Security Management Professional (CSMP – ISMI) advantageous.

Experience:

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in Security/ Risk Management/ Law Enforcement/ Emergency/Disaster, of which 5 years must have been at an executive level within a retail/ FMCG/ large-scale corporate environment
