A global animal health company has a vacancy for a Veterinary Sales Representative to call on KwaZulu-Natal and eastern parts of Eastern Cape.

Job Purpose :

  • The Veterinary Account Specialist (Ruminants) is a specialist position responsible for engaging with key ruminant veterinarian and veterinary channel customers.
  • A strong affinity for the technical and scientific aspects of the products and the associated conditions is essential, as well as a solid understanding of the business aspects of selling high-quality premium veterinary pharmaceuticals.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop mutually beneficial and long-term partnerships with veterinary customers (vet direct accounts, non-direct vet accounts, and veterinary wholesalers) and maintain these relationships with appropriate activity levels. Collaborate with Marketing, Technical teams, and BUD to bring expertise to customers.
  • Detailing and Selling: Utilize strong technical proficiency and product knowledge to meet customer requirements and promote products through solution selling techniques.
  • Analyze territory and customer base to identify high potential veterinary and farmer customers. Establish and maintain client relationships, manage budgets, identify opportunities, and ensure successful promotion implementation. Organize and present at farmer study group information events in collaboration with veterinary customers.
  • Territory Administration: Regularly update SalesForce Touchpoint and plan calls.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Tertiary qualification in Veterinary Science (BVSc or equivalent), Veterinary Nursing (BVetNurs or equivalent), Science (BSc or equivalent), Agriculture (BSc (Agric)), or Animal Science (or equivalent).
  • Preferably 5 years of animal health experience and some sales experience.
  • Previous sales and/or marketing experience in the Animal Health industry is advantageous.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the territory, including overnight travel.

Technical, Commercial, and General Skills :

  • Strong technical proficiency and ability to translate knowledge into effective product positioning for customers and their clients (farmers).
  • Customer-centric approach with good business orientation.
  • Computer literacy, including mobile devices, with intermediate skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Results-oriented, eager to achieve objectives, and capable of overcoming obstacles.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Good planning and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Afrikaans is an advantage.
