Position: Animal Health Technician
Start Date:

Hours:
Approximately 40 hours per week
On Duty:
Every second weekend
On Call:
Alternating days with the veterinarian on duty (not every night), including on-duty weekends
Requirements:
- Must be
registered with the South African Veterinary Council (
Up-to-date registration with the SAVC is essential) - Physically capable of assisting with lifting large dogs (up to and over 45kg) safely and confidently
- Able to work as part of a close-knit, caring team with a strong work ethic
- Comfortable with shared weekend and on-call duties
- Valid driver's license
- Experience working with small animals advantageous

Core Description of Duties
- Basic animal care
- Interact, socialise, and handle animals to ensure content, well-adjusted and cared for animals
- Clinical assistance to Veterinarians
- Conduct relevant observations and examinations of animals
- Therapy and care of animals ensuring good animal health and wellbeing
- The collection of specimens, including, but not limited to, blood, blood smears, skin scrapings, urine specimens and faecal samples necessary for laboratory analysis
- Basic laboratory procedures (including sample management, blood smear analysis, etc.) to assist with diagnosis
- Accurate and correct movement of animals
- Record and handle raw data to ensure accurate and consistent information
