We are currently looking for a Field Service Technician to join our team in Port Elizabeth . We’re an established company with over 60 years’ experience in the food processing & laundry equipment industry, constantly innovating to improve our local industries.
The successful individual will report to the Technical Director and will be responsible for the service maintenance, repairs, and installation of food processing equipment and industrial laundry equipment. In conjunction with the Service Co-ordinator, they will control the output, planning, and prioritising of workflow. The main purpose of the position is to drive service success that improves customer satisfaction, maximises customer retention, and increases profitability.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesDuties will include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct on-site visits to clients to carry out fault finding and servicing of existing baking, freezing, and laundry equipment.
- Conduct on-site visits to clients for the installation, setup, testing, and commissioning of new equipment.
- Administer time usage and the movement of stock, ensuring accurate accounting.
- Provide client training on newly installed and existing equipment.
- Assist clients telephonically at stipulated times.
- Maintain medical fitness to perform duties.
- Travel extensively within and outside the region and work beyond normal operating hours as required.
- Render technical assistance and advice to other technicians.
- Perform additional duties as required by the company.
- Operate a vehicle safely and use field automation systems.
- Follow all company procedures and protocols.
- Cooperate with the technical team and share information across the organisation.
- Post matriculation / N3.
- Qualified electrician with at least 2 years’ experience post Trade Test – with traceable references.
- Knowledge of servo systems will be an advantage.
- Basic practical mechanical experience with gearboxes, electric motors, and brakes.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Passport may be required.
- Proven field service experience.
- Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and service technical equipment.
- Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing work schedules.

The Field Service Technician will be responsible for overseeing and leading installations, repairs, and surveys on Wireless or Fibre Networks, with a focus on standard home or small basic business installations.
General
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and established procedures.
- Collaborate closely with a Team Leader and Scheduler.
- Maintain project and safety documentation.
- Provide accurate reporting and updates on completed work.
- Ensure availability of necessary stock for scheduled work.
