Purpose of the role
The Utilities Technician is responsible for maintaining equipment in basic condition and extending its lifetime through adequate and cost-effective (preventive/condition-based) maintenance in the Utilities area. He/she is responsible for identifying and eliminating losses/waste, reducing Equipment Breakdowns, reducing unplanned and eventually planned downtime, eventually reducing maintenance cost and improving OEE across Operations through leveraging the KWS methodologies, while maintaining the highest standards in Safety and Quality & Food Safety. He/she ensures that the Maintenance Plan for Utilities is continuously updated and executed.
Limited travel could be required. He/she performs standby duties across the factory, which may mean coming in during odd hours.
Working Relationships
- Reports to the Mechanical Business Partner
- 1 Direct Report: Utilities Fitter
- Closely works together with the PM Coordinator, the Maintenance Technicians for Process/Packing, the Stores Controller, the shift fitters and the Process Engineer ‘Process’.
- Partners with all other Plant/CSL Departments at all levels
- Plays an active role in one or more KWS Centers of Excellence
- Partners with equipment suppliers
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Environmental, Health and Safety
- Role Models, promotes and encourages a Health and Safety culture within the Plant, leveraging GEMBA, Safety 7 Tours and Leader-led observation programs as key coaching opportunities.
- Ensures that all Environmental, Health & Safety rules, policies & procedures (incl legislated requirements) are being followed and acts pro-actively by addressing any concerns.
- Assists in root cause analysis of incidents/audit findings in Utilities and identifies/implements actions to mitigate risk/structurally eliminate the hazard.
Quality and Food Safety
- Role Models, promotes and encourages a Food Safety & Quality culture within the Plant, leveraging GEMBA & Golden 6 Tours as key coaching opportunities.
- Ensures that all Food Safety & Quality rules, policies & procedures (incl legislated requirements) are being followed and acts pro-actively by addressing any concerns.
- Assists in root cause analysis of incidents/audit findings in Utilities and identifies/implements actions to mitigate risk/structurally eliminate the hazard (including but not limited to Adverse Events, Non-conformances, Food Safety/Quality Incidents & Alerts, …).
People
- Fosters proactive, clear, consistent and transparent communication across the Maintenance Department, Operations and the rest of the plant Daily Direction Setting meetings, Toolbox talks, Shift team meetings and Shift Take Overs.
- Actively drives capability building for the Mechanical Maintenance area (esp. shift fitters) and Operations, linked to loss elimination and Management of Change.
Kellanova Work Systems (KWS)
- Actively participates in one or more KWS Centre of Excellence teams and owns one of the critical Daily Management Systems (DMS).
- Ensures follow up of all critical Maintenance DMSs and actively drives implementation of Reliability Maintenance in the Utilities area.
- Actively enforces SAP as the single source of truth (including but not limited to spares, work orders, purchase requisitions, …).
Manufacturing and Operational Efficiency
- Owns the overall OEE improvement (Breakdown Elimination, Unplanned/Planned Losses) and loss elimination journey for the Utilities area, in close collaboration with Operations. He/she owns the Mechanical Maintenance plan for Utilities, ensures this is continuously updated and timely/efficiently executed (this includes planning, preparation, staging, installing/assembling and testing). He/she analyses shiftly/weekly/monthly trends and develops & drives relevant action plans to improve.
- He/she leverages the full KWS toolbox in the journey to eliminate losses in the Maintenance and wider Utilities area. The KWS tools help him/her in diagnosing malfunctioning systems, identifying root cause and executing relevant short- and long term improvements.
- Throughout the Reliability Maintenance journey, the Mechanical Maintenance Technician Utilities actively works to reduce Unplanned Downtime, initially through replacing with Planned Downtime so adequate (preventive/condition-based) maintenance can be executed, afterwards reducing the Planned Downtime whilst further improving OEE and reducing maintenance costs/spare parts inventory.
- As Mechanical Maintenance Technician Utilities he/she ensures the long range capital plan is reflecting adequate ‘Repair & Replace’ interventions and minimizes obsolescence across Utilities.
- He/she owns the equipment asset list and drawings for the Utilities area and ensures this is up to date through regular audits/counts.
Preferred Education, Skill & Experience
EDUCATION & RELEVANT YEARS OF JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE
- National Diploma or BTech or Trade Test (5 years experience) coupled with at least +3 years of FMCG working experience.
- Minimum 3+ years in a senior artisan leadership role for a team of artisans.

- Manage multi-disciplinary projects from inception until final commissioning
- Conduct all the required risk assessments and Hazop processes in compliance with company requirements
- Develop project schedules to ensure projects are closely managed
- Lead the process of projects FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and PAT (Performance Acceptance Test)
- Ensure that staff is trained and signed off on operation of new equipment
- Develop project close out to ensure snags are closed and project formally handed over to the site
- Managing and maintaining site facilities and infrastructure
Other Duties :
- Execution of scheduled, preventive & proactive maintenance
- Ensuring spares availability; Ensuring TF Heaters efficient Operations, by avoiding losses
- Tuning of Burners for Air Fuel Ratio with respect to CO2 & O2%
- Attending Losses due to Insulations & Leakages through TDO Doors of Both Lines
- Minimize repetitive breakdowns; Best maintenance practices implementation
- Optimize the expanses by proper tracking; prepare documentations
- Conduction Energy Audit to identify the Gaps; Surveillance audit for certification
- Maintain Water softener & DM plant performance for rated parameters & OBR
- Maintaining Cooling Tower Fills cleaning
- Execution of Planned themes
- Close monitoring for ETP operations & out let parameters
- Proper tuning of TF Heater Burner for Air & Fuel Ratio
- Daily Monitoring of Gas consumptions with respect to plants running
- Monitoring equipments running as per plant operations
- Monitoring all the parameters on each shift basis, Monitoring Expenses on regular basis
- Shift Planning & performance reporting; Day to day activities related to department.

About The Role
We are hiring a Team Leader to support a key Energy client campaign in the delivery of new customers and switching them from their existing electricity supplier. The team leader will drive team performance, developing and motivating staff to maximise campaign potential.
- Lead a team of 10-15 agents, building strong relationships where everyone feels included
- Host 1-2-1’s and daily stand-ups as needed
- Work closely with your team, leading and inspiring them to drive their performance in both Sales and Quality
- Manage day-to-day line activities, prioritise and make risk/impact assessments within existing processes and procedures, actioning feedback from the Quality team to ensure the team is achieving SLAs
- Use company methodology, team input and own initiative to ensure attendance and retention targets are achieved
- Ensure training and development plans are maintained for all team members, coaching and mentoring as needed
- Look after the health and wellness of your team, escalating issues as needed
- Manage the fair and consistent application of performance management and disciplinary measures as necessary
- Keep up to date with business development and new product lines
- Stay informed about any industry changes affecting the business and relay this knowledge back to the team
- Report to the Campaign Manager, supporting them by highlighting operational risks, areas for improvement and delivering business targets to create a high-performing team
- Escalate any appropriate problems to senior management
- Engage with the client on an ad-hoc basis using high-quality verbal and email communication
- There is a strong element of reporting involved, so you’ll need to be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite
